Last year McFadden had 1,157 rushing yards in 223 carries. Charles had 1,467 yards in 230 carries. McFadden had 507 yards in 47 receptions. Charles had 468 yards in 45 receptions.

DC has Charles been hurt all year?
Im going Charles. McFadden runs way too high, and benefits greatly from a very nasty Raiders line, and Michael Bush.
In all honesty I dont' see either of them as having long term success. McFadden has skinnier legs than me. Combine that with his running style and it's only a matter of time before he has the career changing injury. Charles on the other hand is just too small to keep it up long term.

We should also consider how much Bronco fans despise the Raiders (and are somewhat indifferent to the Chiefs because no one takes them seriously), when reviewing the poll results.

He tore his ACL in the first quarter of the second game of the year.
If anyone had argued that Charles probably won't be the same back after he recovers from his injury, then they would have a valid point. The argument that McFadden is somehow a more complete back then Charles is not even close to being true.

I have skinny legs and McFadden makes me look like Ronnie Coleman. No way his chicken legs hold up for very long. I don't feel there's a certain diameter that equates to success as a rb, but I do think if you're 6'3" and 220 you shouldn't look like a rooster is giving you a piggy back ride.

I just don't see it that way. McFadden has established himself as a workhorse type back that can run you over as well as run by you. He's pretty much good at everything. Sure, Bush gets some carries too, but not nearly as much as McFadden and normally they are later in the game like a closer.
Charles still hasn't proven he can handle the workload of being the #1 guy. Sure, he's faster than shit through a goose, but he still really needs guys like Thomas Jones, McCluster, and Battle to spell him.
I guess what I'm trying to say is, Charles is more like Chris Johnson and McFadden is more like Adrian Peterson. I'd rather have Peterson so I picked McFadden.

Charles and McFadden had almost the exact same number of carries last year. I don't see how McFadden has proved he can be a #1 guy but Charles isn't.
All I can say is that the Chief's passing game was much better than Oaklands' last year. Bowe and Moeaki forced opposing teams from loading the box against the Chiefs and that allowed Charles to see more 7 man fronts than 8 man fronts. I'm not trying to make excuses, but that's what I saw in both games we played vs the Chiefs and Raiders last year. There's no way the Raiders beat us 59-14 without McFadden, no way. We loaded the box to stop him and couldn't. We didn't even worry about the Raiders passing game and he still ran for like 200 yds and 3 TDs.
I'm not trying to say Charles isn't good. Absolutely not, I'd love to have him, but I just see McFadden as a more complete back and Charles as a "splash" player, a Darren Sproles or CJ2K type. 5 runs for 15 yards followed by a 70 yard TD run which skews his YPC to a huge number.
NorCalBronco7
10-24-2011, 02:28 PM
Both are great players, but Id much rather have McFaggins. Hes a more complete RB imo who is effective between the tackles and just a tougher runner. Both are prone to injuries, but Charles is tiny and thin. Id trade the Broncos last 10 RBs for either though.
