Was it garbage time this time when he drove down the field and scored a TD and then 2 pt conv? Hell no.

Let's give Tebow credit for bringing us back and giving us a chance to win in OT, that's something we never would have had with Orton. But that doesn't change the fact that he looked absolutely horrible for the majority of the game, and this would not work against any other team except maybe Indy.

The only problem with this is, it gives us more questions than answers. Tebow sure as hell doesn't look capable of playing QB in this league, but his heroics at the end of this game make you think he has a shot. I almost wish he'd just suck the entire game or play great the entire game.

Oh well, we can enjoy the excitement of the game and leave the decisions up to the FO, although that is scary itself...

Although John was a better passer you have to wonder how much of it is playcalling. For years Reeves went very conservative early only to let John loose late in games. Tebow has some work to do but im pretty confident that playcalling is not our best suit right now either.

I didnt get to see the full game but i know he had 7 sacks.

How much of it was on Timmy holding onto the ball and how much of it was a breakdown by the Oline?

From a few plays that i saw on RZ there were times he had great protection and than others not so much.

To be fair, had we lost and been shutout there would of been a few people calling them out.

I definitely would have. Tebow played horribly for 3 and a half quarters, but I'd rather an ugly win than a pretty loss any day. They definitely haven't earned the right to brag about Tebow's play though. We'll call it a stalemate for now.

Is it too hard for you to say Tebow redeemed himself too?

Tebow redeemed himself in the 4th quarter, but if he doesn't play better we won't win another game all year, except maybe one against KC. Our offense didn't do shit in OT, DJ and Prater won that themselves.

What I do like about Tebow is his ability to score in the RZ, especially at the goal line. With Orton, he's probably throwing an incomplete pass on that 2 point conversion. Tebow is a weapon in the redzone, but he's not even going to get there if he doesn't play MUCH better against better teams.

Maybe they should let Orton play the first 3 quarters, and Tebow the 4th.

You know DBD I thought the same thing. I was driving the first half of the game and keep going ouch, dang, well. In fact I was so tired I watching the game laying down and almost fell asleep. The pass to Wills woke me up and that catch by DT had me going. It was a heck of a game and I was proud that so many players stepped it up. Good to see DJ have such a major turnover....wow

No matter how bad Tebow looked guess what he got a win and lead this team with some of the worst play calling I have ever seen in football. I think the play calling would be great for Pee-Wee league but not the NFL College HS or even Jr. HS.

That's how every D will be playing them. Stop the run on the way to the qb. This was a win of ineptitude...the team with the least, won (I think).
The D played decently (or was it the shitty Miami O?). Prater played like shit but redeemed himself in the end.
For the first 3qtrs, I thought BVP was qb'ing.

Tebow has showed that the Play calling and Coaching is lacking IMO.

Fox/McCoy need fired.

If you listened to the cbs analysts after the game, they had praise for Tebow's play in the last 3 minutes, but also brought up the fact that Tebow did not pick up the blitzes, did not hit open receivers - the rest of the game - which has nothing to do with play calling and coaching. In fact, they talked to Tebow after the game, and whoever was talking to him congratulated him on the win, and one of the first things Tebow said was that he did not play well most of the game.

1. Tebow must get rid of the ball quicker.
2. OL needs to step up.

Me too, I think the OL did ok, It could have been worse with the timeframe Tebow was asking for. Was he scared? Could have been, but something needs to click with him because it does not get any uglier. You could have built a house in the time the OL gave to Tebow.

Did we have to play soooo conservative because of Tebow? No, I think we should open it up. See what he has. Work with his strengths.

Tebow was done no favors by the playcalling. It's bad enough that Royal and Thomas have both missed significant time with injury (especially Thomas) but then on top of that, the complete lack of balance made it hard for the passing game to find any kind of rhythm.

The good thing is that the running game did well in spite of the defense knowing it was coming. If there's more balance in the playcalling, it should make the running game even more effective.

It's like the coaches wanted to manage their way through the game by running almost exclusively. A couple of things happened that are unusual, one being the McGahee fumble which led to a Miami FG and the other is that Prater missed two FGs. Managing their way to a win would have been more possible had there been no fumble and Prater doesnt miss two very makeable FGs. This actually backfired and it took Tebow throwing to win the game.

One thing that people should really be paying more attention to is that when McCoy was calling a pass once every 7 plays, Tebow was 4/14. When the Broncos were behind and they had to pass, suddenly Tebow was much better as a passer since he was able to establish some rhythm. Maybe Miami was in prevent but still, on that same token, you can also say that Miami was playing against the run most of the game (since Denver was running almost exclusively).

Agree it is pretty telling that in the last 2:45 of the game Tebow passes almost more then he did the entire game. That is why I blame it on the play calling, and that means the blame for today's horrible play falls on Fox because he is the HC, and then the OC McCoy who is the Orton of OC's.

4-14 for 57:15 of game time. 2:45 game time 9/13 2 TD's and a 2point conversion. Play calling sucked for 57:15 that is coaching problem.

It wasn't all on the play calling. The Dolphins were stacking the box daring Tebow to throw. When he did he missed WIDE open receivers, missed reads, and flat out inaccurate. For a QB to succeed in the NFL they have to beat 1 on 1 coverage on the outside. He also held the ball way to long at times.

I promised myself win or lose I was going to withhold judgment as much as possible until the end of the season, but that was an impressive and gutsy win. And I know we sucked for 75% of the game, but it was still nice to come away with a W. Can't declare Tebow a boom or a bust on one game though, especially considering our history on early east coast games (especially in Miami!). It really reminded me of that horrible game we had against Cincy in 2009 when Stockley got that miracle tip for a TD and propelled us (IMO) to a good start. Hopefully we can get some momentum off this win.

I'm not going to throw out hyperbole about Tebow or my Broncos right now, and just bask in a win. This is only our 6th one in the last two seasons, so why ruin it by over analyzing it?:D The truth about this team and our QB lies somewhere between the love and the hate and I'm just happy to have at least 10 more games to enjoy!

It's only the third time in his career that he has missed two field goal attempts.

Also according the CBS sports he only missed 2 field goals in 2010. So today was not normal for Matt at all.

I think you're off here.

Miami played eight, I think at least once nine, in the box for a good part of the first half, true. Then they realized the tempo of Denver's offense was: Run, Run, Pass. At that point they did in fact start dropping guys into coverage on third down, or leaving linebackers out to prevent the stupidly predictable draw plays. I'm not excusing Tebow here, as he was off the mark at times, but the playcalling was atrocious and Miami was completely dialing into it every drive.

Nothing was done to keep Miami's defense honest, either. That is the most remarkable thing about it. It should not take a genius to realize if you are in that run-run-pass set-up you could throw in a bootleg on first down every so often to not only surprise the defense and probably get a score or chunk of yards, but also to alleviate the run game. Only when Denver absolutely needed to score did we drop the bullcrap. Of course, in overtime, they still elected to run it repeatedly to set up a... 50-yard field goal.

Mike McCoy should be fired right now.

In listening to the local sportscasters after the game, they stated that when the passing game was finally working for the Broncos, the Dolphins changed to a prevent defense.

I posted this before - but to repeat, after the game, Coach Cowher was complimentary of Tebow for how he played late in the game, but also said he needs to pick up blitzes better, and hit open receivers.

Also - this comeback was a total team effort - offense - of course, scoring, but also special teams - recovering the onside kick, and Prater making the winning field goal, and the defense - holding the Dolphins, and DJ knocking the ball loose.

Yeah, and there were too many play action fakes on obvious passing downs to go along with that. And this is with Wake giving Franklin problems for much of the game. If you're going to do the run-run-pass, then can we please do away with the play action fake on obvious passing downs.

But the good thing is that they did have success running even when it was so obvious we were running.

Returned home from the game, what an amazing win

Tebow was trying to hard to be a pocket passer, many times our WRs were just not open today and he held on too long

Tebows passes were off on some plays and there were a few drops also by the WRs

Defense played well in the heat and humidity of south FL

Missing FGs really hurt the team mentally you could see it on the sidelines, the team was down

The fng play calling was crap. Run run pass, that was ridiculous finally at the end we got into a rythym and marched down the field with a couple of good throws and 2 outstanding catches

The play calling in this game reminded me of Oakland last year, T2 other first start, too conservative and actually hurt the team by not alloying Tebow to be Tebow

We need to taylor the offense to his strengths, roll outs etc not a single roll out today

Wtf- not going for it on 4th and 2ft from the opponents 43 with T2 in at QB?

This coaching staff continues to show no faith in Tebow and it's going to cost him, he's a gamer and needs those moments when they come up, that's when he shines, this coaching was horrible and I hope they get more liberal with the ball next week

WE WON!!! And in the end that's all that matters.

Oh and once it hit 15-0 most Miami fans hit the exits to beat the traffic home so the stadium was mostly bronco fans at the end and it sounded awesome in person and from what I read on this game day thread it sounded awesome on TV too.

Much of the plays called depends on the coaches confidence that they will be executed. Missing a wide open receiver by 10 yards and floating a 5 yard pass 10 feet over the running back don't do much to instill that confidence.

Yes, I blame the play calling, but you also have to blame Tebow for not executing on his opportunities. Hell, Tim did himself....

His attitude and work ethic are great. Now if only he can learn how to throw a football.

Everything you said was spot on.

Until the ridiculous last sentence.

Oh, silly me, of course Tebow is just fine the way he is. You know, running around like a chicken without his head, sailing balls on 3 yard passes, throwing passes 10 yards away from receivers. Nope, he doesn't have to learn how to play QB in this league at all.

You're one of the guys who turned off the game when we got down 15-0 aren't you...

Believe it or not Tebow led the team back with his arm because they finally decided to drop the leash and just let him play a little. He made great throws in the 4th quarter.

Guys keep pointing out him missing Decker on that deep route, he had pressure in his face and had to get rid of the ball. I don't think he could even see Decker, he just threw it to where he thought Decker should be.

Is Tebow a precision passer? Not really, but I will ask this... since he took over for Orton, how many deep balls has Tebow underthrown? That was a normal occurrence for Orton. At least Tebow can get it downfield.

For a guy who can't throw the ball, he sure doesn't throw many INTs.

Elway interview this morning-He was luke warm on Tebow. Not exactly a glowing endorsement. Elway must have been going crazy watching Tebow the first 3.5 quarters

Now he knows what it was like to watch him under Dan Reeves.

Yeah, because all the AFC West Championships, AFC Championships, Super Bowl invites and playoff berths on whole really sucked!

Elway might not have been great game in and game out, but he was still great. Tebow looked like a steaming pile of horse shit...big difference.

:salute:
