I really hope we go after a new DC...We should be able to get one with the 12th pick Eh?

Trade down.

Me thinks some teams will be trying to trade up in this draft. Jets and Tampa need QBs, maybe Chicago and Detroit. Detroit may take an OT at the top spot because of the higher risk a QB selection would bring considering all the money it would cost.

We have enough picks.

Pick the right guy.

We have a 1st, a 2nd, a 3rd, a 4th, three 5ths, a 6th and two 7ths, don’t we?

I don’t really need more picks than that. I doubt Shanny keeps them all anyway, even though he should.

We can trade down and still get the LB or S we should get in round 1, so I’m fine with it if we choose to do that.

But I sure don’t NEED to trade down.

It’s kinda funny/sad that we lost to 4 of the teams drafting higher than us, and barely squeaked by a 5th (Cleveland).

Talk about playing down to the level of your opponent. Too bad for Detroit they didn’t play us this year. We probably could have helped them avoid infamy.

Drafting 12th worked ok for us last year, right? :D

#12 is a good spot to be at because it isn't top ten and teams are (history has shown) to be more willing to trade in that area. You don't have to shell out top ten money, but you can get a top ten talent you were hoping for. Yes, we don't have to trade down but if the Broncos feel that there is a player (and there will be) a few spots back and can get an extra pick in the process, why not?

Unless a certain player or two falls (top ten guy) I don't think the difference between 12 and 20 value wise for the positions we need would be a big deal. Just get value when and where you can get it. If McCoy (say for a name) is there at #12, take him. He will not be there at #20. But, if you want to gamble on someone like Rey M. or Brandon Spikes being back a few spots, it can be worth it.

Denver should be able to land an impact player anywhere they draft in the first round. I'd hope so.

Yes! Perfect position for a Running Back! Especially one from TD and Champ's Alma Mater.

Trade up? lol

I say trade down in order to trade up in round 2. If we can get a top LB, S, or Wells/Knowshon, while trading down a few, then pick up an extra pick in order to trade up in round two perhaps.

Id love to get Shonn in round two. That way we could absolutely terrorize secondaries with Peyton and Shonn.

Im wondering what our FAgency is going to look like..........heh.:coffee:

I'd be up for staying put or trading back. A team like Detroit, who has 5 picks in the first 3 rounds, may be able to part with their #20 (Dallas) and #33 for #12.

In addition, I'd like to see Shanny package some of our later picks to get back in the mid rounds. If done right, we can collect a lot of quality and depth in lieu of that stud that may or may not be ther at #12.

Right. Or even for next years draft.

Detroit can get a really good franchise potential QB at 12, and not have near the risk that goes along with signing a rookie QB to a gazillion dollar contract.

No one will trade into the number one spot, unless theyre sold on a QB. Frankly, I just dont see a sure thing at that position in this draft. They will NOT take a WR. They need a big LT, which is a much safer pick as well as a necessity if youre going to put a young QB back there.

So, I agree, there is good value at our spot.

Not to mention Tampa Bay.

Think GRUDEN wants a QB?

Jets are who I was thinking of the most. I don't really like Favre, but if he does retire, they've just screwed up their franchise for the next 5 years. I can't believe they fired mangini just cuz the owner didn't realize Favre sucks.

WARHORSE

Favre doesnt look like he wants to be there. Im wondering that if Favre does come back, they bring in the offense he was in at Greenbay.

Undoubtedly, they will make a play for a QB this year, or else they are
D-U-M-B, DUMB, DUMB, DUMB.

Is this official? There are 5 teams at 8 - 8 are you sure we pick at 12? Is 8-9 worse in the draft order then 8 - 8?

G_Money

We have the easiest schedule of all the 8-8 teams, spike.

When you have the same record but you had easier foes and SHOULD have therefore had an easier chance to get a better record, they rule you as the worst team among equal records.

So yeah, we get the #12. ;)

I knew the easiest schedule got the better pick off the tie.. I was just wondering if it was official. that and if the Chargers lose they will be 8 - 9. that is worse then 8 - 8. Do all the playoff teams get the last 12 picks regardless of record? Or will the Chargers get a better pick then NE?

Only the teams going to the SB get the 31 and 32 pick. All other teams have their draft order determined by regular season records. So, what SD does in the playoffs will not effect the draft order. The draft order is locked right now, with the exception that the two teams going to the SB will get bumped to picks 31 and 32.

Division leaders are placed in the last slot between teams with the same record if Im not mistaken.

You're not. That's why San Diego is drafting 16.
