Eddie Royal for one. 91 catches, 986 yards. Can't say enough about his returns and plays in the running game too.

What a star!

Ryan Clady.

Franchise player in one of the top positions on a football team.

Peyton Hillis. Will be a stud if he stays healthy next year.

I was just going to say Hillis and Clady. Other than that...good luck finding more positives.

Dude, I admire your positive attitude but this thread is too soon. We just lost the playoffs and got our asses literally handed to us on a silver F'in platter!!

I can't think about ANY good that came from this team right now...

I enjoyed this season. It was a positive.

Not as positive as I'd like... but positive.

Clady, Kuper, Harris, Scheffler, Marshall, Royal, and Cutler are an amazing young nucleus to an offense.

Gotta give Ryan Harris and the whole O-line a bigs thumbs up really. Weigmann, Kupes, Hamilton, that whole unit has been stellar protecting Jay.

Our offense with a solid RB is going to be special.

Offense:
Cutler-Breaking records, but needs to learn how to look off a reciever
Marshall- 100 catches and over 1,000 yds. Cut the crap and grow up though.
Royal- Had no clue who he was, but I love this kid
Clady- Only going to get better
The O-Line- We have a solid group for the next few years

Defense:
Dumervil (I guess)- May be a good trade bait, otherwise if he had some help on the edge could be a great player.

We improved from our record the previous year and tied San Diego in the division.

Positives:

- Cutler can throw. I mean really throw. He has a top 2 arm in the league and will for a long, long time. He showed glimpses of not being the next Jeff George either and possibly being able to become a better leader and QB and not just an arm, and through it all Shanahan adores him, so he'll get more time.

- Brandon Marshall dropped a lot of balls, but caught a ton too, and the nerve damage we feared might destroy his career hasn't.

- Royal is a terrific #2 receiver.

- We have 3 of 5 OL positions locked down for the foreseeable future, with potential Pro-Bowlers in all 3 positions.

- We discovered it might be nice to have a running game.

- We will hopefully look back at the season and realize it's hard to win without actually playing defense and special teams AS WELL AS offense. Just passing the ball isn't good enough. There were plenty of illustrations of this phenomenon for our coaches to look at when they review the season.

- thanks to this final humiliation, some of those coaches should change - in what one would only assume would be for the better.

- We get to start pursuing those coaching changes immediately.

- Rookies and backups showed they belong, even while starters and vets showed they didn't.

- The draft is in April, and we showed in '08 we're getting good at it, so we'll be a better team in '09 than we were this year.

- We don't have to watch the Broncos "play" any more games this year.

Well, Cutler grew in many ways, but also showed he still has a ton to learn. Hopefully he picks that all up in the next season or two. Marshall proved to be reliable...as long as he plays with Cutler. He still has to cut down on the antics and the drops. Royal looks to be a keeper and Clady was a beast...as was the rest of the line.

As far as Hillis and the rest of the kids...I need to see ALOT more before I'm ready to get too happy about them

There are some (Hillis, Royal, Clady, Harris, Woodyard, Barrett, another year for Cutler to mature, etc.), but this team had more "bad" losses than any Broncos team in memory (KC, the Radiers, plus the Bills and Chargers with the playoffs on the line), so as of today it's hard to appreciate them. The O-line contributions should prove invaluable since there's no reason for them not to be long-lasting.

I can't help but worry a Brandon Marshall contract holdout might add to our offseason worries though. Will we pay him or trade him? I have no idea.

A Slowik firing would be a positive indeed...

the season is over and hopefully we get a complete workover on D from numbnuts down..

we have about 5 keepers on D dj thomas champ barrett and woodyard.. Al most every one else is expendable.. Robertson has a year or two left in his knees.. but past that this d sucked..

I said at the beginning of the year 7-9 maybe 8-8 and it looks like I was pretty close although I thought with all the rookies they would get better as
the season progressed. the rookies did everyone else did not...

HAd we played the kiddies from word go Woodyard, Hillis, Barrett, Larsen, Bell, Torain, yes I know a few were sickly at teh beginning of the season ..But we would know NOW what we have and which vets to cut.. tomorrow..

ur crazy if u think Dumervil is expendable. Best rusher we have. U double team and hold Doom every game with nobody to help him, what u see is what u get....

everything else agreed

Dumervil is VERY expendable. His production dropped off big time this season and he will probably ask for a hefty contract. Plus, he is WAY too one-dimensional. Pretty much worthless against the run. When you have a pass rushing specialist who gets like 4 sacks, that's not good. I'd be pretty surprised if he returns next season.

-Tatum Bell coming back as a starter and running in 2 storming TDs. :salute:
I'm biased here as I was wearing a T Bell (#26) jersey while watching the game tonight ... but that performance has kept me proud and encouraged despite tonight's loss of game and division title.
-Ryan Clady. I'm biased again as he's my adopted Bronco ... but wow what a rookie year.
-Eddie Royal ... WOW, @ Oakland onwards.
-Jay. Class. VERY proud to support a team with a QB like him. He deserves his ProBowl place. Hopefully next season he'll be back at the ProBowl, as a starter.

How good was the Cleveland Browns defensive line this year?

I don't know, better than ours?
We should totally trade them and get a fresh new set of Browncos.
I would love that.

Training Camp '09 will be very interesting. Broncos have too many good tailbacks. Battle for starter.

1. Peyton Hillis
2. Ryan Torain
3. Micheal Pittman
4. Selvin Young
5. Andre Hall
6. Tatum Bell
7. P.J. Pope
8. Anthony Alridge
9. Cory Boyd

I think Ryan Torain will be our # 1 RB and Peyton Hillis would move back to Fullback. They could be locked for season '09.

I don't know. Torain scares me. He's not played much this year due to injuries. Not going to say he is injure prone but he is questionable. Another thing I noticed is Jay seemed to have a good chemistry with hillis and he wasn't half bad when it came to dragging a few guys down the field with him.:D I would love to see him at RB and use our change of pace backs like young, torain, etc to come in and shake things up with their speed.

Things I liked

Cutler - still forcing the ball but when he gets a running game, he going to be the best QB in the NFl
Marshall - The Beast needs to work on his routes but he's player the demands double coverage and defense coordinators attention
Royal - Beast JR, a 1A WR in the league and will be better after a year in the system (scary huh)
Clady- I amazed that he was this good. What happens when he just reacts to the plays and isn't forced to do the rookie thought process?
The rest of the o-line is above average

Despite the humliating loss to the Chargers I am optimistic about the rookies, the O line, Cutler and Marshall. We are only going to get better. I'm not optimistic about anybody on defense right now but am optimisic that Goodmans team can address that issue.

I didn't give Ryan Harris props, but I thought he did well at RT; especially in protection. I think he can be better driving in the running game -- but it's nice to know we have Kuper, Harris and Clady here as real long-term options. I'm happy for that.

Another reason for optimism is this site. I finaly have somewhere that I can vent, learn and relate on. The other forums are a joke, thanks to all that contribute and share. The off seasons are always long and boring, you can bet I'll still be logging on daily to discuss Broncos football.

Optimism with Ryan Clady at tackle. he was excellent all season long.

Also Eddie Royal had a very good rookie year.

Thats all I got. Some other high profile players are way too inconsistent for me.

also I liked what I saw from Hillis for the short time he started. He showed heart that is for sure. I would give him a chance next season along with maybe a draft choice to compete for a starting job.

The fact that 2 of our last 3 drafts have been phenomenal (with '07 being decent) is my positive.

I still look at Shanny as a mastermind of offensive X's and O's, but the last 8 or so years shows how deficient he is when it comes to drafting and motivation. The fact that we're turning things around with our drafts tells me that the guy's ego has been biatch slapped back down to earth and we've made the necessary changes. Another couple drafts on par with '08 & '06 and we'd be looking at an amazing roster of players.

Offense is solid, we have enough RB talent in the bullpen......just get them healthy.

Larsen and Woodyard have been nice surprises on defense.

We had some pretty abysmal drafting between '00 and '06. As of '06 things have been looking up.

Brett Kern - While not the best punter in the league, he's a ton better than Jason Baker and Paul Ernster.

Stokley - 49 for 528 & 3 TDs is pretty good for a #3.

TE - Graham and Scheffler combined for 72 for 1034 and 7 TDs.

Bly - His tackling improved atleast.
