I was sitting here and began to think, if we lose this weekend our schedule next year will be pretty tuff, we'll have to play second place teams which most like will be baltimore, whos getting better, pats, brady be back, and colts for sure, then well have to play the nfc east i believe next year which alone will be tough, then the chargetts 2x. now if we win our schedule should be easier going into next year i believe, titans, steelers (pretty tough_), and probably the dolphins who might not bring pennington back cuz of a large contract, so losing would make it tougher in my opinion. what you all think? well besides that what about bringing in maybe a gunther cunningham to coach our defense, i really doubt hell be in kc:)

You never know how good a team is going to be before the season. For all we know, the NFC and AFC east could suck next year. Everyone thought before this season that we had an easy schedule and that didn't turn out to be the case.

well not easy for us, jags below 500, chiefs and raiders 3 or 4 wins, east was tough, same with the south but only lost one of those, no excuse for losing to jags, raiders and chiefs though

Isn't who we play come in through rotation? Plus, like BTB was saying you can't really predict how good teams will be. The NFC South bit of our schedule was supposed to be a cakewalk and look how that turned out.

I didn't mean in W-L's, but in that they weren't a cakewalk. That the division actually turned out to be a challenge when it was supposed to be the complete opposite.

New England had the weakest strength of schedule of every team, heading into this year.

You have no idea who will be good and who won't, so trying to discuss it a good nine months before the season starts is pretty much worthless.

Remember, San Diego were worldbeaters and Cleveland was a contender...lol...

i never believed the browns, they werent tested last year, the pats will be good next year brady will be back and they wont lose anyone on offense, if anything theyll gain a running back, their defense is getting old so i bet the draft for that, but to think that the colts and pats wont be good come on. look how competitive the nfc east will be they will try hard to improve all but two of em opening stadiums, i dont see them getting worse unless the eagles let mcnabb go.

You have no idea what teams will be next year. No clue. Sorry, but that's the reality.

I thought the Dolphins sucked. Now, if they beat the Jets, they will be in the playoffs.

The Ravens, they had a new coach and a rookie quarterback...They are the No. 3 seed...

You just never know, so its almost pointless saying we will have a tough schedule next year. We have no clue.

My bad. I made a mistake with the playoff teams, I wasn't thinking...it still doesn't change the fact that you have no clue who will be good next year.

Although good job at deflecting the question YOU brought up.

maybe, this will help shanny make desicions this offseason on what he does defensively and about the runnning back situation, i love the way hillis plays, but listening to alfred williams on 1043 today he says that hillis wouldn't be ready for training camp from his sources.

Um, ok.

I guarantee that the schedule has nothing to do with how Shanahan builds the team in the offseason.

Hillis' injury was hamstring injury and he probably would have been ready to go if we kept him off IR for the the second playoff game...so, not really sure why he won't be ready to go eight months from now, but anywho...not sure how that fits into our potential schedule....

ummm hillis hammy tore off the bone he was done! and yes considering who he plays should make him consider for the next season becuase if not slowiks sorry ass defense will get shredded by the colts, pats, and texans. so if he dont build a team to what he has to defend would be stupid@!

I'd be shocked if the Broncos win on Sunday, not surprised but shocked. I still want them to kick the ?!@# out of SD though.

This is how low the Broncos have gone, that fans want them to lose as they'd somehow be better off with a weaker schedule.

Losing to putrid teams week to week is acceptable now. Denver being mediocre is also acceptable under a Coach who cannot motivate his team in any given week and is somehow still referred to some as a 'genius.' Please. It's pathetic.

i think shannanigans should stay, the defense needs to go though, i really would be upset if something wasnt done about the defense this offseason, and im talking coaching not personel, i'm tired of this dink and dunk us to death sheyot. its old and been happening since slowik has been on this staff. next year would be a waste if hes back, hes had the defense for almost two years and no, none, nada of an improvement whatsoever ugghhhhhh!!!

Based on last years outcomes, we all thought the second half of this season would be a cake walk and look at what happened.

Folks whatever happens happens..

If some of you want a cake walk schedule next year just to get into the playoffs I feel sad for Y'all.. I'd rather have a team that kicks ass and take names no matter who they play..

Not up one week and down the other..

I have always thought this would be a sad year with all the rookies 2nd and 3rd year players we had. Thinking that 2009 and beyond would be our big years..

Here is the strength of schedule for each team. It may change a little bit because there is still one week to go. The schedule is for all 16 opponents. Of course, everyone has only played 15 so far. It calculated Denver playing SD twice at 7 - 8. If they beat us our strength of schedule will go up. As it will also go up depending on how all our opponents to this last week. Keep in mind, SD, KC and Oakland will have the biggest affect on us because we played each of them twice. Therefore, 1 win or lose will count as 2 on our strength of schedule.

1 0.566666667 Cleveland Browns

30 0.454166667 San Francisco 49ers

What is ironic is that some of the games the Broncos won were over some of

I'm having a hard time making sense of that because the other three AFCW
teams are near the top, and the majority of their respective schedules
composed the same opponents as the Broncos.

Right but they all had to play us twice and we got to play them twice..

See, against us their strength of schedule would be 16 wins and 14 losses = 30 total games. When you divide the 16 wins by the 30 total games you get a 0.533 win %. That is our winning %

KC's is 0.133
Oakland's is 0.266
SD's is 0.466.

Each of those teams make up 1/8 of our schedule. Losing teams will always have a tougher schedule because as a whole their opponents got a lot of win from them.

The AFC west only has a 0.35 winning %. The easiest in the NFL is the NFC west, they only have a 0.333 winning%

Another thing I wanted to point out.

The AFC WEST we played against only has a 0.288 winning %. Here is how it looks for the entire division's strength of schedule against opponents in our division.

KC - 0.422
Oak - 0.377
SD - 0.311
Den - 0.288
