ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Broncos rookie right tackle Orlando Franklin was excused Wednesday to deal with a family tragedy.

Franklin's status for Sunday's game against San Diego is uncertain. Coach John Fox had already addressed the media when Franklin apparently learned of the situation after practice.

The Broncos locker room was stunned by the news that the brother of starting RT Orlando Franklin was killed Wednesday. No details were immediately available, but Franklin left to join his family and his status for Sunday's game is unknown. Coach John Fox already had addressed the media when the news hit. Very sad for him and his family to lose someone so young. Prayers are with them all, and may his brother rest in peace.

Wow. 20 years old. That just makes my heart hurt. Way too young.
