Nobody knows if Tim Tebow will play to a national television audience Sunday in Green Bay, but he will certainly play for one Tuesday night.

Tebow is one of six current and former NFL players who will participate in an episode for the NBC reality series "The Biggest Loser." You can watch a promo here.

Tebow's part, which was taped this summer, is part of the series' Week 2 offering, which the producers have tabbed as NFL week.

First off - I, as much as anyone else, would like to see Tebow on the field; however, I agree with some on here, and some talk show hosts, who have stated that Tebow spent most of the extended off season, doing personal stuff - i.e. many book tours, many guest appearances on tv promoting his book, doing commercials, etc., and now this comes out. IMO, that time could have been spent working with someone "in the know" to learn, practice, practice, practice to make the transition from a college QB, to an NFL QB.

A show where fatasses win prizes to lose weight, I think.

“People see me on this stuff (golf courses and at public events) but it’s 45 minutes or an hour a day. The rest of the time I’m with my teammates training, working, trying to get better,”

http://broncotalk.net/2011/05/22441/...-under-center/

Having received the team’s playbook last week when the lockout was temporarily on hold, Tebow has been working hard this off season in hopes of beating out Kyle Orton and emerging as the team’s starter.

Tebow works out three times a day (lifting, throwing and cardio) over seven hours a day, every day. Recently, he’s been contacting his teammates to set up some player-organized team workouts.
Quote:
An area Tebow has been working on a lot is taking snaps from under center. As Andrew Mason of MaxDenver.com has pointed out, it’s essential for Tebow to master the trait because Head Coach John Fox‘s offenses traditionally don’t use a lot of shotgun packages.

“The biggest thing for me is that I’ve been working on play-action passes (and) play-action drop-backs — all under center,” Tebow said. “I haven’t had one rep in the shotgun, just to make being under center the most comfortable for me — and to even be more comfortable than the shotgun. So I’ve worked 100 percent on that.”

Yeah, neither one improved as a QB in the offseason, but I guess the vet gets a free pass.

In all fairness Orton didn't need to learn the basics like how to throw a timing route or take a snap under center.

Carol, I think you're great, but it's kind of laughable to bring up Tebow's work ethic as an issue this offseason. I'll let North's links speak for themselves. The kid works his butt off.

Good point. Orton has very little in his game he could improve on.

So much drama about a guy doing good things...

There is only so much you can do in the offseason, considering he couldnt even get guidance from his own team.

People need to just take a deep breath and let it go.

When I made my initial comments in my post, I stated working with someone "in the know". I know what Tebow did on his own - I was referring to something like the following:

McCoy, Favre worked out together in offseason

I agree, he probably should of hired someone to help him work on it. But then again maybe he felt like he could do it without someone. The kid has a lot of confidence in himself even though he probably regrets not hiring help. However, this is where i had the problem with your post,

LMAO! So I guess you saved these little tidbits from the summer, eh?

Good for you, northy.

Except, again, as in my case yesterday, you missed the part where carol asked why he wasn't actually, you know.... LEARNING FROM SOMEBODY IN THE KNOW! You know, like Colt did with Favre.....

Playing "catch" with 'sucky teammates', running, lifting, has done NOTHING, evidently, to improve his reading defenses....anticipating breaks, hot reads, et al.

And btw, an hour of programming tends to take waaaaay longer to get right before its saved. Just read what BPitt says in SI about MoneyBall. Hours/days for scant minutes of clip.

Methinks TT is being rather casual with the time. ;')

Is it just me or is he becoming more like Lienert?

You should go read Tneds post about radio hosts. You're actually pretty similar in that you claim anyone who supports Tebow is a TT Fanatic...

Maybe you (I doubt the talk show hosts will) should count up the days and see who's right, then, if you're that concerned, bs.

Frankly, I don't think many can stand here and flatly say TT doesn't need mentoring. Hell, even HE says he's still needing to improve.

IF he's going to be on the roster next year, its up to him and him alone, to seek out help and actually SHOW the FO he can be an NFL QB.

I think the perfect person would be Steve Young. He struggled mightily at first, failed a lot, and won SB's...as an inaccurate, running southpaw.

Marriage made in heaven.

If/when he becomes the starting qb, I, too, will be his fanatic. But not when he's "2nd/3rd string".

I think calling out some people is warranted. In this case.

There's being a fan, and then there's BEING A FAN! Lol. Knowhatimeanverne? ;')

On this we agree and ive stated so. However, for you and Carol who have come out and also said he has spent of most of his time doing personal issues is completely wrong and THAT is the part im addressing here. Anyone who has followed Tebow knows he needs work. Its just obvious because he is a second year QB.

North - you know, as well as I know, that if I would have left the word most out, and stated that he spent time doing personal things, - I would have been bashed by those who would say that Tebow should be able to spend personal time doing things other than football.

From my post - the following was what I wanted to emphasize:

IMO, that time could have been spent working with someone "in the know".

I believe you have agreed with that.

Well, i dont know if you would of been bashed for it and that wasnt my intent. Its just in the last couple of days (RC being one of them) ive seen that phrase used a lot in terms of what Tim did in the offseason. Before i found those links i wasnt even sure if he did or didnt but i felt that it only fair to put them up and clear the air in that particular regard. As to the rest, i agree with you. He could of hired someone or gotten someone to help him out but i dont know if that is just Tim's confidence in himself or just an oversight on his part. Either way, he needs work that much we can agree on.

Several reports of Tebow working out with Brandon Lloyd, Jabar Gaffney, and Britt Davis, taking snaps under center with J.D. Walton, etc. So Tebow works out with people who he would actually be playing with during games, and that's not good enough. McCoy works out with a worn-out gunslinger and that is top notch preparation? I just don't get it...

Nobody likes Orton but his parents though. He could have shown up with hunky brady quin body, no one would have cared because he would still throw a dump off screen behind the line of scrimage on 3rd and 11.

Tebow's quicky book tour and 4 or so media events made him so bad that he wasn't even allowed to practise with the 1st string -- too emberassing.. In fact he is worse than he was a rookie..
Meanwhile Kyle Orton waged a quiet war perfecting not only running forward for negative yards but the uncanny skill of throwing the checkdown while his legs are wrapped behind his back and his head is firmly tucked in his behind..
