Note to players. Get your New Orleans versus Green Bay pick in by Thursday at least 5 minutes before kickoff, 8:30 EDT . You only have to pick the Thursday night game Thursday. You can make your picks for any game up to 5 minutes before scheduled kick-off.

Yes, this is way easier. No extra points for picking the Dever game score correctly but that is a small drawback for ease of use. I've been in a pick'em league using Yahoo Sports before and it's a no brainer. Everything is done for you.

Do they show the results after each week, or at least say who the winner was and how many right/wrong?

Yes to both. Under weekly performance it shows all the participants for each week and the running totals. It either puts an asterick by the winner or bolds the winner if I remember correctly. It's super easy to use.

What every works for North. I can even try to have something by the half way in the season. It's just that I'm on the road a lot in the Fall and getting ready to drive to WI in the am.

Got a great team picture at the last preseason game, so I'll see what I can swing. You guys just figure it out and let me know what you want, North and Can. Dawkins has always been nice to me so I can have probably have one of him by half way.....like I said whatever works....

 I find it humorous that most of you who have less then positive views of Christianity know more about Christian metal then I do.

For me, my tastes are more towards meaningful lyrics then style of music. I can listen to rap, country, contemporary, rock, metal, etc. as long as the lyrics are good. I’ll even go as far as to acknowledge that there are a few none Christian songs that meet this standard. However, most of the popular ones you might hear on the radio don’t. I would also have to acknowledge that many of the Christian groups, especially when you’re talking about the harder rock & metal bands, don’t either. This is what made groups like Styper, White Cross and dc Talk unique. They could blend meaningful lyrics to what many would consider to be more extreme style of music, especially when you compare them to more traditional church music. As far as many of these other Christian bands that I’ve heard the youth play, all I hear is the scratching of electric guitars and the screaming of some incoherent gibberish.

What made Stryper memorable was that they came out during the early years of 'Hair Metal' when heavy metal itself in all forms was on the rise as a popular genre and they had a song that was sort of shocked people with 'To Hell With The Devil', and though some bands had curse words in their albums they certainly didn't get air wave time and that song did...so it earned them some fans outside the norm.

You want to talk about feeling old!? A few years ago, I was a volunteer at an Arabic church. Sometimes we would you radio transmitter/receiver units in order that someone could translate the service into English so the Pastor wouldn't have to keep stopping to translate for himself. One Sunday, a large group of students from a Bible collage came to visit. We had plenty of receiver units, but not enough headphones. I realized that the IPods & MP3 players the all of the kids had used the same type of headphones. So I went around asking to barrow them. I saw a couple of brothers hanging out in the parking lot and so I asked them, "do either of you have a Walkman with you?" They both gave me a strange look and the old of the two ask, ""what's a Walkman?" :tsk:

 I find it humorous that most of you who have less then positive views of Christianity know more about Christian metal then I do.

Well, thats just it for me. I am a pretty open minded individual. Its not the christian message i have a problem with, its some of the individuals behind it that i feel have used it as a shield or dont practice it. But i can listen to bands that sing about god to bands that sing about satan. In the end its just their interpretation on life or in some cases just for shock value. As much grief as death metal gets for its gory and over the top lyrics its really nothing more than listening to a horror movie rather than watching it.

Im pretty much the same way although when it comes to a lot of christian or anti christian music i listen mainly for the music. Styper are fantastic musicians but i think they just barely missed the bus on how to convey their message without being too far over the top. Demon Hunter and P.O.D do a much better job of making the music more based on the listener's interpretation as opposed to their own views. Meaning, the songs could easily apply to every day people and also christian people.

But i do love some intelligent lyrics as well as my fondness for progressive music in general. I cant do country regardless of lyrics or music. Just cant get into it. I do like some Rap, Celtic, New Age, Classical, etc though.

I just tried to sign in and got all 3 of these error messages at once:

There was a temporary problem with the server. Please try again shortly. (Error #115)
The group is full. (Error #107)
This is not a private group. (Error #147)

I got those too, I thought I was just being an idiot and doing something wrong, lol. I just tried it again and it worked fine though.

As a added bonus and just for fun im going to award the winner a CD of their choice from a list that i have. Dont worry, it wont be just heavy metal as i have a lot of stuff to choose from. :)

I would also like to add a prize to the overall winner.

It will either be a autographed picture by a Bronco player like Brian Dawkins or a team photo with at least 10 players on it, no idea which ones depending on how much time/energy I have this fall.

I had offered this to Tned earlier this year and then he was not sure it was going to happen.

You guys are awesome!

My kids do that to me all the time. A couple months ago I said "telephone" and got a total blank stare and then "what's a TELEPHONE???"

My three year old son did that the other day, we went to an antique market...my teenage daughter wanted a classic telephone, like those from the 40's, anyways she found one, but she forgot to test it. He kept telling her to plug it in and charge it, he got very adamant that all it needed was to be charged!

If Canmore can get me the winner, and whether they want cash via Paypal or an Amazon gift certificate, each week, then I'll give the same prizes as last year, but promise they won't be 8 months late. If all I have to do is login to Amazon or Paypal and click send, I am 'probably' reliable enough to pull that off.

Last week, Canmore said there would be a small green block by the winner's name. All I can think is that it takes a while to calculate the tie breakers, since there was not an outright winner.

Last week, Canmore said there would be a small green block by the winner's name. All I can think is that it takes a while to calculate the tie breakers, since there was not an outright winner.

Ok, yea that would be Fan then.

12 out of 13.. Thats vegas material. Professionals who make a living handicapping would have made off large on your bets. People hammer me, because I only make 10 bets a week, and call my 95% winning percentage a fluke because seemingly its impossible.

I bet on 4 games maybe 5 games. Usually 2 or 3 Point spreads, 2 game props on monday night, and 2 over/under total score.

North you are hitting on 12 out of 13 games. If you added in some props, over/under, and point spread, you would be going 18 for 19 in betting for the week.

Yea, but thats the problem for me. In the past ive done bets (not big money) on using point spreads for NFL and College games but its far trickier doing that than just simply picking the winners. College is a tad easier because the usually dominant teams generally cover but its still riskier than just saying this team will win or not.

You know what its not that hard... its a different animal...

Picking ALL the spread games is hard as hell but generally you pick a few games you think are locks for money... I usually do well with about 5-6 games.

I know people that are great spread pickers but for some reason they suck at picking straight winners... go figure.

Good Luck today guys.

The good news, I think I got 1 of the tie breakers clinched (Most points: New Orleans) and its possible that I could get a second tie breaker tonight (Jacksonville would need to score less than the 7 points that Indianapolis scored last night). The bad news, I'm 2 points out of 1st with only 1 game to go. I have a hunch that I wasn't the only one to pick Baltimore tonight. Nevertheless, a Baltimore win makes me 9-4 and keeps me hanging around for the season championship.
