Didn't see one, but I figured we should have a list somewhere. Schefter just said on twitter that we cut Dan Gronkowski

Not a great day for the Gronkowski brothers: Chris Gronkowski and Dan Gronkowski both have been told they will be cut.

Dante Rosario was also released per Rotoworld.

Broncos released TE Dante Rosario.
A good pass catcher, Rosario's release comes as a bit of a surprise since he played for new Broncos HC John Fox the past four seasons in Carolina. However, his numbers have never quite matched his athleticism. Denver appears set to go with Daniel Fells as its primary tight end.

Doesnt look like Weber is expected to make the cut.

"You really are just day to day," said Broncos rookie quarterback Adam Weber, who will not earn a spot on 53-man unless something unexpected happens this weekend but certainly has earned a potential spot on the practice squad.

Perrish Cox released by Broncos. Any teams looking for a good, young CB should jump. Good starts under his belt.

I had always thought Gronkowski was on the bubble at the very least. He didn't get to play much in preseason and neither did Rosario. Thomas was going to make it for sure and Green was going be pretty safe even though he was 6th round pick.

Cox released as well

That sucks. I liked the way he's played so far but it's unlikely that any team picks him up until he resolves his legal troubles. He'll be back on our roster if he is found not guilty. Otherwise, he'll get exactly what he deserves.

Cox has been up and down and inconsistent. The fact he has the off field issues hanging over his head probably didnt help matters any. He would probably be a good nickel back for a contending team.

Noooooooo. Have to disagree there. Johnson has a lot of speed but doesnt have the power that Brown does. Ball? He's ok but not on Brown's level to me. I question more the fact that Indy rarely uses RB's as it is and just needed the space rather than Brown having poor play.

Well, they did use a first round pick on him just 2 years ago (well, 2009, so three drafts ago and two seasons), so I don't think they cut him just for space. It has to be due to the fact that he's not playing up to expectations. That, or is injured more than we realize and the Colts aren't willing to take a chance on that any longer.

You think Gaffney would've been cut? Over a guy like Willis or some other camp body? They say we have 5 WRs on the roster, but that's counting D Thomas. Really, we only have 4 WRs who can play right now (Royal, Decker, lloyd, and WIllis)seeing as how we released both Anderson and Riley - of whom I expected one or the other to make the cut.

Either we're pretty confident that D Thomas will return and we're confident that none of our WRs will get nicked, or we're going to scour the waiver wire for another WR. No team goes into the regular season with only 4 healthy WRs on the roster.

I wonder what the plan is?

That would be awesome, but I really hope we're not rushing him back too early. I've never seen a guy come back from an achilles this fast. An ACL, maybe because you can wear a brace, but never an achilles. Interesting.

Still though, that leaves us 3 weeks with only 4 WRs and potentially Orange Julius catching balls for Orton.

still 23 left from the McD era

I got this question on Twitter early today: How many players on the roster are leftover from the Josh McDaniels Era?

On the current 53-man roster, the answer is: 23, including nine draft picks over two seasons. One other player was an undrafted rookie signed by McDaniels (Cassius Vaughn). Another draft pick, Syd’Quan Thompson, is on injured reserve.

There are 13 players left from the Mike Shanahan era, including seven draft picks, and one undrafted player (Wesley Woodyard).

I will be VERY surprised if D. Thomas EVER plays a meaningful down of productive football for the Denver Broncos again. Just don't see it happening.
Would be nice to see him succeed since he was drafted so highly but that is McDaniels being dumbass again.

yeah there are but with new schemes and coaches we might be getting rid of some guys sooner than later based on that.

decker is one of my favorite guys he picked. but overall there were alot of below average players.

julious deffinitely is a better TE than gronkowski...at least from what i have seen and heard.

coach fox just seems to be alot wiser and handle players alot better. i'm not constantly worried that he is going to make crazy moves or ship out talent and bring in a scrub.

When healthy (and not being forced to take huge hits on STs), Thomas showed that he has the skills to be a very good WR. His achilles was supposedly just a partial tear. I know you don't like him and will use anything as an excuse to slam McDaniels (he deserves it), but I just don't see Thomas as a bust or failure, yet.

When he was healthy, he was quite good. I know you're thinking, "but he's injury prone", but he wasn't in college and the broken foot was his first real injury.

Honestly, Decker was the bigger gamble coming back from a Lis Franc injury.

I wonder what the plan is?

the "plan" is probably to never have more than three receivers on the field at any given moment any way. . .

So, we traded away a serviceable WR in Gaffney for a DE/DT in Jarmon that we cut? That sucks. We probably could've at least gotten a late round pick for Gaffney instead of a guy we turned around and cut.

Bad trade. Xanders sucks.

Gronkowski was a nice one too.

Interesting Cox indeed did get cut. Way to live up to exactly what people expected of you, Perrish...

I don't dislike D. Thomas. I thought we should have drafted Dez Bryant but Thomas showed some potential in his rookie season. Still, he's been hurt the better part of 2 years now and is coming back from a major injury in regards to athleticism. People love to bash Tebow for being a 1st rounder but Thomas was drafted higher and to the surprise of many, ahead of the better prospect, Dez Bryant. So he too needs to produce to justify his draft position.

I just think the odds are this injury will set him back.

They put McCarthy on the PS and just cut McBath. Kyle was cut at that point because they thought they could sneak him through - McCarthy still has a place with us. If someone claims him later in the year, I'm sure they can cut a worthless backup OL or something to put him on the 53 man.

Or just cut Quinn...

No kidding. But if they cut Quinn, I'd rather they just sign Weber to the active roster. I was listening to Sirius NFL Radio yesterday and they were talking Weber up pretty hard believe it or not.

They were saying his measurables at the combine were better than Tebow's. 39" vertical jump (Tebows was 38"), 4.6 in the 40 (Tebow ran 4.7), etc.

2009 draft:

1st: Moreno - backup injury prone RB with no vision or burst
1st: Ayers - 1.5 career sacks for the "pass rush specialist", here's hoping he can improve in the 4-3
2nd: Alphonso Smith - traded for a useless brother of a football player
2nd: McBath - occasionally injured, often ineffective, gone
2nd: Quinn - worthless and gone
4th: Bruton - hanging on by his fingernails to a roster spot because he's a good ST player
4th: Olsen - gone
5th: McKinley :(
6th: Brandstater - hah
7th: Schlueter - nuh uh

The only players left from a 2009 draft with 5 picks in the first two rounds are our backup RB and a special teams only player.

I don't miss Josh... :tsk:

 You're probably right, but watching everyone we had go elsewhere and be successful while nearly everyone we kept sucked...it's hard on the perceptions. :elefant:

Moreno was one of the only draft picks I was in favor of that day. I wanted Shady McCoy more, but I thought Moreno was one of the top 3 backs in the draft and we needed a back. I thought he'd be good in the ZBS even if we drafted a RB higher than I would have.

Then we canned the ZBS. There's still a good back inside of Moreno waiting to get out, I think. We'll see what he can do from here out.

It was a cacophony of catastrophic errors that echoed through those 2 years. Just amazing how many bad decisions could be made by one man - who was enabled by the decision to hire him in the first place.

SO glad those years are over - but we aren't done digging out just yet.
