Not sure if Lindsay posted this, as things have changed from what they were - or if it is just a refresher course :D

With the Broncos (and 31 other teams) now in the process of trimming their training camp rosters down to the 53-man limit for the regular season, you’ll be hearing the terms “waived” and “released” in coming days.

Both words are synonyms of “cut” but have different meanings.

Another huge advantage to having the second worst record in the league. Being 2nd on the waiver wire could be a gold mine. Theres bound to be some talent available.

This weekend is going to be mad chaos in terms of players being released. I am hoping there will be a thread focusing on all of Denver's cuts this week, and another thread focusing on who Denver is pursuing on the waiver wire or free agency. I do like to know everyone that Denver cuts, even if they are nobody's.

I wonder if steeler fans are as hyped up about the waiver wire/cut/released player list as DEN fans are.
Jeez...its come to this.

tl;dr
Released Player with less than 4 accrued years=Subject to waivers
Released Players with 4 or more accrued years=Unrestricted Free Agent
....until around midseason, in which case when they are subject to waivers.

Well a lot might go to practice squad. I think, Rosario, Weber, Minor, Goodwin, Hamler, Greg Orton, Ronnell Brown, Brandon Bing, Alvin Bowen, Adam Grant, Shawn Murphy, and Curt Porter.

Since i have to be down to 53 on Sunday and we have 80.

By this are you insinuating it's NOT going to be a gold mine? :D

I was going to ask how many can be on the practice squad then thought I what the heck I'll read the article......

Anyway here's the answer:
"The Broncos’ roster currently stands at 80. The team must cut down to 53 by Saturday afternoon. The team will also sign eight players to the practice squad. "

Of course Steeler fans are not excited about the waiver wire....
We never have been before, either...

But... we are rebuilding...
and in this unique position..
which the Broncos have never been in before ( #2)
it is great that we get to take advantage of the waiver wire.

This is just more of an extension of picking #2 in the draft.
an added perk.

I doubt we will be back in the catbird seat again...
if we squeak out 6 or 7 wins....
because I expect after the 2012 draft we will be
very much back in competitive form.

If a guy has 4 years... he is a veteran free agent I think...
this would count as his upcoming 5th year...

(4 OR more years)

I would have to believe, at least some fans of all teams, are watching the moves. That's part of being a football fan.
