View Full Version : Quarterbacks Weigh In

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- Head Coach John Fox officially named Kyle Orton the starting quarterback yesterday for the season opener at home against the Oakland Raiders on Monday, Sept. 12.

Orton said the announcement didn't affect the way he is preparing for the season.

"I didn't have any thoughts on it to be honest," Orton said after practice Tuesday. "Just keep going, business as usual."

I think this is why I dislike Orton. The guy is a complete milk toast of a personality. I think I'd like him better when he's drunk. Eh, maybe not. He'd just be drunk milktoast. I get that he's the best QB we have at the moment (hurl), but show some flare forchristsake. How about "Tim and Brady are my hoes"...something....anything. But no thoughts on it? Really?

"Business as usual" just means he is okay with being average. Where's the leadership? I'm not okay with average at the most important position on the field. Let's at least see some fire, even if your play is average.

Those guys are great competitors and it's a privilege being number 1.

That's a leader's statement. Pull the team together...don't allow sides to be drawn.

This is why a lot of people hate him. He's all about himself. He talks about being worried about what his teammates think. But if that were really true and it were all inclusive, he would talk like you said and there wouldnt be factions where you have Lloyd sounding off for some stupid reason.

Seriously...if it this was the case...then I put the blame on Ellis fully.

Ellis is the one that needs to go.

This is what I dont get.

Right now... why does anyone "have to go"?

The Orton trade fell through.
Tebow has been hurt by no OTA's...
Orton is starting. Tebow is in year two of developing.
The team is rebuilding.

I dont get it.. at this point..

why everybody is all..
"Cut Tim. Fire Ellis. Do something dramatic".

There have been a ton of big changes.
There are more coming once the cut downs happen..
the waiver wire and all.
I have had it up to here with dramatic changes.

Time to get to the regular season...
and God knows how many injuries we will see..
because of the shortened camp..
and just because it is football.

Orton is a free agent in waiting.
Quinn is a free agent in waiting.

The O-line and D-line are both paper thin.

Tebow has disapointed us all and himself.
There are enough people piling on him..
Tim is OUR QB to develop...
and Tim will probably get some special packaged plays..
Fox will use Tim as a weapon when he can... no doubt in my mind.
He will be here next year.. competing with the rookie QB we draft..
and hopefully Quinn.

Bowlen is the owner... EFX is just starting out in this incarnation.

Ellis? Crikey... Bowlen aint gonna fire wormtongue... he is entrenched.

How about we just all be happy there is Football..
watch the team rebuild.. root for the Broncos.. ALL the Broncos.

I dislike Kyle... but he's been named starter...
I will support him as long as he plays here.
I will watch as the team showcases his talent for his free agent bid.

The off season debates are over for me.
I aint a believer...
or a koolaid drinker...
but I'll be a supporter and a fan.

according to Madden 12', Tim Tebow is not far behind Orton, in terms of ability. He can throw a better deep ball according to Madden staff.

I agree. It would not suprise me in the least that as the season closes, and DEN is 3-13 or 4-12 that rumors begin to swirl about Bowlen selling the team to Elway and a group of investors. I think Pat is much closer than many realize. Just my 2 cents.

Even with Orton being the starter I still think Elway is going continue his search for a franchise quarterback. There is long way between now and the next draft but unless Orton something extraordinary I don't see them giving Orton big money to stay.

Well.. I remember when we were preparing to play the Raiders at Mile High last year...
everybody was really stoked and it was a lock that we would win.
every body had all there arguments in place...
about why we lost to jacksonville to kick off the season..
etc
etc
etc...

and we were all expecting that game to be
the corner the team would turn around...

OUCH. I wont even state the score.

This season...
I keep seeing folks saying...
"the Raiders have taken a step backwards".

Really... on the white board...
I see that exact wording in a lot of posts...
"the Raiders have taken a step backwards"...
like they are drinking from the same koolaid pitcher.

You know what?

I remember the Raiders beat every team in the AFC WEST TWICE last year.

Undefeated in the AFC West...

I have NO IDEA what to expect come the first game...
on the big Monday night stage...
in our own house.

I sure hope everything holds together.

Go Team!

Painter, all I know is the Raiders is our first game and they've beaten us 3 games in a row and the last time at Mile High, it was brutal. So I hope the BRONCOS aren't underestimating the Raiders.

These first 3 games should be a good test to see how Orton does against medicore teams (NFL wide standard that is), because the schedule doesn't get any easier as the year goes on.

The Raiders are going to be tough opening week... Orton literally quit in that game last year and you know every Raider defensive player knew it. The mere fact that Orton wasn't benched at halftime just goes to show how pathetic our coaching was last season.

59-14 at home, to a division rival? That's blasphemy. In the end, we still have to deal with McFadden and Bush, and that isn't a good thing for our defense. I also don't have a lot of confidence we can run on their front 7.

I just don't like our chances with Orton back there.
