Avenged Sevenfold

I'm sure plenty disagree judging from how many times they showed up in the overrated thread.

I have no idea how they're rated in general because I don't 'follow' music...

But I'm a huge fan of theirs... and even moreso after going to their concert last week.

They've evolved into a really solid band. All of them pull their weight equally, and they have a nice mix of heavier older stuff and a more melodic style to their last couple albums. The last 2 albums have allowed them to gain a wider audience while still incorporating enough of their original style to stay true to who they are IMO.

Why?

Why?

Cant stand the vocalist. I didnt really like the musical structure on the first album. To their credit though, on the last record they did manage to put in some thrashier riffs but it wasnt enough to make me a fan. And again, the vocalist is just terrible to me.

Hey, have you heard about the Deftones bassist? (http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=109303)

Yeah man. I've been following his progress since it happens. I hope he'll be able to play again.

See, I use to be of that same opinion... I thought he was terrible and clearly the weak link in the band... Then I saw them live twice in the last year and the guy has some impressive pipes. He has a really powerful voice and can sing all of his songs pretty flawlessly. I understand if you just don't like the way he sounds, but he's alot more talented than I thought.

I hope he lives... And then I hope he recovers enough to play, but I hope he gets out of the coma first.

Yea, its not about his talent. Just the way he sings.

The Dandy Warhols. I couldn't tell you exactly why I like them so much, because in many ways they aren't a typical band for me to like. I just do.

I know they have already gotten much attention, but I really feel like time will shine on Radiohead in a very favorable way. Comparing Radiohead to other bands is like gods to insects for me. Lots of musical elitists seem to shun the band..... F em. Radiohead is all-time top tier stuff.
