1996/97 was the first time South Carolina had a decent basketball team since the Frank McGuire era.

The Big 3... Guards BJ McKie, Melvin Watson, and Larry Davis. They won 19 of their last 22 games to finish the season 24-8. Even beat Kentucky twice that year while Rick Petino was coaching. SEC Champs and a #2 seed going into the tournament.

Just got back from the Duquesne upset over Xavier. Great game. Xavier seems to be a squad you can get to lose their heads. When things go bad, they turn to one on one ball. The place went crazy tonight. First game I've been to where the court was stormed. Pretty loud for only 5,000 capacity.
