Who would've thought GoW could've gotten any better?

I missed the Chainsaw bayonet, one of the best weapons in gaming history!

This will make me pick up Gears 1 to replay it again.

Fantastic game, but its SOO easy compared to the first. I almost have it beat on Hardcore (think I'm gonna team up with my friend to tackle insane though). Between this and all the new Jedis you can play as on The Force Unleashed, my Fall Break is taken care of. :salute:

Awesome game, but it is pretty easy. I made the mistake of doing my first campaign on Normal (or whatever the one below Hardcore is). I think I may jump straight to insane for the 2nd time through.

Yeah, spectacular game. I went through and beat it on easy when I got it... working on Hardcore and Hoarde mode with friends online... so much fun. Love the new Hammerburst weapon, just a nice, quick-fire gun with a lot of ammo. Plus the mortars.... just destruction everywhere.

I'm picking up a 360 on Black Friday. Best Buy has a 60GB with 4 fee games. I'm going to rent Gears of War 1 thru GameFly and take my time with it and then play #2. I can't wait.

I'm no stranger to shooters, I've played all relevant ones and I don't consider myself awesome, but I'm playing it on Hardcore and I don't think it's too easy.

Not saying the game itself is easy (everything from the Hive to the Queens throne room is a nightmare), but I'm having a much easier time with this than Gears 1.

Also, after I spent 2 months beating Ninja Gaiden II on Path of the Master Ninja, everything seems a little easier now...

How far have you guys gotten in Horde mode? I got to round 29 last night and that is the farthest I've gotten. It seems damn near impossible to get through 50. Much respect for anyone that does.

I got to 11 on my own, me and a few friends are gonna take a crack at it tomorrow. Best mode in the game IMO (besides the campaign, which was awesome).

Question- I can't seem to use the dead bodies or the Locusts as shields in solo mode, is this only used in other modes?

The game is also kinda funny, I LOL at least once already!

You should be able to use them as shields in the solo campaign...remember that they have to be down but not dead in order to use them as a shield.

And yeah, the dudes say some pretty funny stuff sometimes. I just beat the game tonight and it was an awesome game with a great story, but it seemed sorta short and ended rather abruptly. When people beat the game make sure you let the credits roll through. After the credits roll you get a tiny glimpse at the direction that the story may go in GOW 3...nothing mind blowing, but sorta cool nonetheless.

Yeah, the last boss battle left a lot to be desired, kinda like the strange endings to the Halo games. GOW2 was an important transition into the storyline of GOW3, but it had its moments, like riding those Brumaks. That was intensely fun.

GOW1's final boss battle left a lot to be desired too. I never played GOW1 for the bosses. The storyline and the beauty of the game was enough to play it through multiple times.

I woke up at 3am waited in line for about an hour and a half and made out with a 60GB 360 with 4 free games! I've been throwing down on Gears of War 1 for the last couple of nights. That game is awesome! I love the whole 3rd person perspective with the cover system the game has. The cover system is very similar to Uncharted. Once I start playing those kind of games I'm hooked!

Tons of great shooters on 360. Even the old ones that are now $10 or less are still great games.

Prey is one of the first that comes to my mind. $7 at GS. Get it.

Yup. Prey, Quake 4, The Orange Box (MUST BUY) has Half life 1 and 2 and Portal, and the ever awesome Team Fortress.

BTW about Gears 2. I found a nice choke point on the Horde where I've managed to get to wave 30 all by myself. I think its called Pavillion where theres a small area in the middle of a game where theres a tunnel that leads to a small clearing. In here is a Boomer shield. If you back up through the entrance and place the shield BACKWARDS towards the entrance (so other enemies wont kick it over). Smaller drones and wretches can get through sometimes, but all Boomers and Beast Riders just get stuck behind it for easy pickings. Plus you can line the walls with grenades for easy kills as people try to squeeze through the choke. Just make sure you reset the shield each time so it does'nt dissapear on the reset. The only reason I stopped at 30 is that I got tired.

I haven't turned my Xbox on in two months. I'd like to get this game. I still enjoy the first one. It sounds like all of you liked it. I haven't heard any bad reviews.

Are you saying the ORIGINAL Half Life is part of The Box? I know HL 2 and the expansions are on there, but I didn't pick it up because I had HL2 already and never played the first...

Nope, sorry. Half Life 2 (with EPISODES 1 and 2). Portal and Team Fortress take the cake, IMO.

I read that they are already starting the development process of Gear of War 3. It is rumored that it will be ready for the holiday season of 2010 and that it will have a 5 player co-op mode.
