Welcome everyone! This is the forum's official fantasy league, and is open to all members. There are a few changes this year, namely in conference commissioners, but everything else will remain the same as in years past (If it aint broke, dont fix it). Reidman and dogfish have served as the forums official league commissioners for 3 years and did an awesome job :salute:. They are however, unable to participate this year. So SeeingRed, and Myself, Chidoze, will take over the league and continue the tradition of Broncos Forums Fantasy Football.

Last year, there was a minimum of 500 posts as a baseline requirement for entry, this will continue in 2011. There will be exceptions if you've been here for a while and/or are active on a regular basis, new members and so on. We would like to keep membership to BF regulars, as that is, after all, the point of the official Forums League.

As last year, the league will be separated into two (2) conferences that actually function as independent leagues (each conference will have it's own draft, pool of players, etc), and the overall league champion will be the conference winner that scores the most points in the championship game in week sixteen. Everyone who "registers" in this thread is welcome to play as long as we have even numbers to make the conferences, but it's going to be on a first-come first serve basis, so if you want to play in 2011, post in this thread.

I'm going to make August 28, 2011 the registration deadline, so if you want in now's the time to sign up! We had 20 participants last year, but there is always room for more. We will keep the league size to 20 and if we get past twenty entrants I Dwill keep a running tally and update-- we can accomodate as many as want to play, as long as we have even numbers that can easily be broken into multiple conferences (20, 24 30 etc).

participants so far are:

SeeingRed
Chidoze
Hardwired
Sharkie
Tned
Softskull
Skinny
BigDaddyBronco
gnomeflinger
Sparkie
ManchesterBroncoLUHG
Devilspawn
guitarj
MileHighCrew
GEM
chazoe60
honz
girler
MO
watchthemiddle

list will be updated as others join. . .

Once there is a final list, each participant will be randomly placed into a conference, and then we'll send out invites and get everything set up. Since each conference will have its own draft, I won't be able to give you draft dates until we know who's in which group. Each conference will follow the exact same rules, which will be as follows (same rules as last year, for those who participated):

This is a standard head-to-head style league-- when I know the size of each conference, I'll let you know how many teams will make the playoffs. Week 16 will be the championship. We'll do a live, online draft-- 18 rounds, snaking each round. We'll be using fleaflicker again this year.

It was in the same email as last year's invitation link.

The commishes might want to reset the PW though (and throw Pippi's Pandas back out of LoonyEast until the official 2011 league invites go out!)

As of 4 hours ago, you guys were already half way there. My league is a lot harder sell then yours, and I already filled up the last 2 of my 12 of my spots this morning. I even put out a poll question as to whether or not we should expand to 16 teams. This surprises me because the last 2 times I started a league with this type of scoring system, I only got 8 takers each time. I think a major reason for this is the lockout has knocked a lot of the league commissions off normal routines and there are therefore fewer leagues this years.

Bottom line: I predict that you'll have those 10 remain slots filled before the end of this weekend.

No not yet, you're supposed to boot everyone out then we send out new invites after we get enough people and separate them into the leagues.

So remove the owners that are currently there and change the league password. :salute:

Once you let dogfish know you've accepted his invite, he'll appoint you co-comish and step down, SeeingRed, then you will have control of the league.

Once this happens, remove any remaining owners and reset the league password, send me a PM if you need help with this.

As far as I know, it's always been like that. I remember being in the western the first year, the eastern the next, then back in the west this last year.

It keeps it fresh I think. That way you're not playing against the exact same owners/teams year in and year out.

I think East suits me better, seeing as that's the first time I won my conference ;)

If I remember right I had the best regular season record, but lost in the first round of the playoffs that year - quite possibly to you in fact.
I think it was Devilspawn I beat out for third that year.
I reckon I'm giving poor Spawn some nightmares, seeing as I've twice inflicted that on him now ;)

I can't remember, I do know there was 3 other teams ahead of me in overall standings because I was the 4 seed going into the playoffs. My team that year wasn't the greatest but they put up points when playoffs started, I had Phillip Rivers AND Peyton Manning that year!

It may have been you, I know it wasn't DS so it mustve been you lol. I think you kicked my butt in the regular season though.

Somebody posted earlier today about the closing registration date, I cant find the post, but, I'm willing to accommodate as much as possible.

I plan on separating people the same day into the two leagues, and sending out invites. That way you will have exactly one week before the draft to rank your players, customize your team logo's, names etc. How you choose to use that week is entirely up to you.

I understand people have schedules to keep and things to do, as do I, so let me know if there's a problem, and I'll see if I can help out. :salute:

I think that first weekend of September is going to be a congested drafting weekend, but that's normal.

If I could put in an early request for an early time on Sunday 4th if that's the day we draft, it would be much appreciated.
I'm going away the following morning & have to leave early.
I already have one draft scheduled at 11pm our time, 6 Eastern - so the only time I could do that day is anything earlier than that.
Unless we draft on the Saturday?
I could of course pre-rank & leave it up to the computer, but much prefer live draft if possible.

Well, if you end up in the west Sharkie, you may have it your way. I have the draft day set as Sept. 4th @ 4pm ET/1pm PT.

Not sure if it will stay that way, but that was my preference. I wanted it as close to the actual season start with at least 3 days in between to prepare. :salute:

Everything is set up now. SR has things under control in his league now, so we are just waiting on participants.

I'm excited about this year, I have a lot of my lineup sketched out. Ranked and what order I'm drafting, and which position is more important than others.

I did very well my first year, I was ok the second year, and this last year I just got my butt kicked. I was 6-8. I need some kind of redemption.

There was one week where my KICKER lead my team in points scored for the weekend.... that's bad!

I was thinking Sept 3 around 2pm Central time (3 in the east, noon in the west) with two minutes per pick. I chose a Saturday in the middle of the day, but if majority wants something else, I'll move it. The more people that are able to make the live draft, the more competitive the league will be.

Last year, I couldn't make the live draft and ended up with an excellent auto draft but that's the exception and not the norm.

I tend to find that 90 seconds per pick is long enough. Two minutes per pick tends to drag, but that's just my personal preference.

I can do 90 seconds. From what I experienced during the live draft on my brother in law's keeper league on nfl.com last year, one minute isn't long enough for me to pick, especially when you're in the later rounds and you're trying to contemplate who may or may not perform well, etc. In the beginning of the draft, the picks so go so quick because most people have at least a rough draft of what they'd like to have, etc.

I think we're going to wait until we have our 20 members committed, then we'll go about getting contact info from everyone and getting the league invites with league passwords sent out to people. Once the leagues are full we'll split the people in to the two conferences, then get it all done from there. I'd like to get everything done at least a week prior to the draft that way we're not having to rush to get shit done right before the draft like last year.

I don't recall having TO. I know Sharkie was in our league last year. Maybe it was her.

Do you wanna close the leagues up now or do you wanna see if we can get more? I'd be okay with a two league, eight team per setup if everyone else is. The teams would be stacked but I think it would make things pretty interesting and we'd never have a shortage of players available on the waiver wire.

Just sit tight for now, we will divide the participants up into two leagues then you email either me or seeingred, depending on which conference you are in.

It's a fleaflicker league. I suggest going to fleaflicker.com (http://www.fleaflicker.com) and starting an account before hand so when you get the email invite all you have to do is click the link and join.

Well, we have been discussing the close date for a couple days now. I thought about closing it sooner but I wanted to let it develop and get as many people as possible.

Once you joined that made it a full 18, 2 conferences with 9 per.

Not many people have been signing on the last week or two.

So the close for registration is just a recent development. It would probably still be open had you not signed up or if a few more had signed up.

What day and time does everybody want?

If we have more input from everyone we can make a better assessment.

So everyone weigh in regardless of conference.

Later is no good for me. I have a 3:00 Central draft which was scheduled before this one. They are talking about moving it, but at least one person says it's the time he needs it to be, so right now moving it doesn't look like an option.

I haven't paid attention to how long drafts have been taking, but with 10 people, 18 rounds, even if we average 30 seconds a pick (unlikely unless a lot are set to auto pick), that's 90 minutes, if I did my math right. If we average a minute a pick, that's three hours.

So, a 1:00 Central draft with this league is going to be real tight with my 3:00 Central draft.

That's the reason I made the comment about swapping conferences.

I dont think we've ever had a 3 hour draft since it started. Last year it took about an hour.

I've had the draft date set since August 3rd and I said I would be flexible from the start.

I'm not worried that it will take a long time, because it hasnt in the past.

If you would like it to be earlier/later, I dont have a problem with that. I'd like to accommodate everyone as much as possible so they can participate in the live draft.

And if you still want to switch leagues, I dont have a problem with that either, as long as you find someone who is willing to switch with you.

I didn't realize the draft date/time was set that long ago. I must have missed that.

I agree that three hours isn't likely. I've been in plenty over an hour. An extra half hour earlier if it works for others would just give a bit more breathing room to make sure there is no overlap and a chance for a brief break in between.

Just never know from draft to draft how many times that timer gets close to zero before someone picks.

Anyway, if we can do it a little earlier (even 30 minutes), it would be helpful, if not, if it gets tight I'll stick the end of this one on auto-draft, or try and do both at once.

Thanks. My biggest problem is that I'm just in too many damn leagues. I said I was going to cut back this year, and just get in a couple, and poof, now I'm up to six (might be seven, I'm losing count), and they are spread on four different websites/platforms, which really sucks.

I have the draft tentatively scheduled for Sunday at 6pm Central time (7pm in the east, 4pm in the west). Please let me know how that works for everyone. I know we've got a handful of people in the UK in the Eastern Conference and you're about five hours ahead of me (assuming you're also in Greenwich Mean Time) so I can make it earlier to accommodate you if everyone else is okay with it. I'd have no problem doing that.

A couple of hours earlier would suit me better, because that's midnight our time - not ideal, but if you can't change it, it's just about manageable with matches to keep eyes open & liberal doses of coffee!

My other issue, is I've got another draft just one hour before the time you've set, but hopefully, that one will have finished.

The latest I could realistically do on the 4th is 3pm Pacific (which unless I'm mistaken would make it 11pm BST)

I have one that day at 9pm BST time so as long as we avoid that time if possible. If not though I'll do one on the laptop and one on the PC so no big deal.

Is BST British Standard Time or British Summer Time? I believe Pacific is only 7 hours behind Britain in summer time. So, if I'm not mistaken, 3pm Pacific would be 10PM in Britain.

I'm not going to be able to accommodate everybody. I'll do what I can, but in the end at least one person is gonna have scheduling conflicts. More than likely, whatever time I make the draft for regardless of if it's Saturday or Sunday I'm not going to be able to make it because of scheduling conflicts. I'm just trying to make sure that the majority of people, to include our friends in the UK, are going to be able to make it. If you can't make it, make sure your players are ranked accordingly. Besides that, only half of the people in the Eastern Conference have PM'ed me their e-mail addresses and I'm not going to chase them down and ask them for their e-mail address. So unless they get their act together, we won't even be participating at all. Sorry for being cynical.

I did OK. I roped myself into the idea that taking rookies that have some potential would be good on my bench, but I'm not sure that will work out well, because this isn't a keeper league, you need production now. That could blow up in my face.

I just made it in in time for my first pick and took Charles, and I'm not sure about that pick. But, I have Brees/Bradford and Larry Fitzgerald, so I'm definitely happy with those three picks. I was surprised to see Fitzgerald still there when I picked in the second, and surprised to see Brees there in the third, so I think I did well there.
