So how do all of you here enjoy watching your receiver bitch and whine while throwing his teammates under the bus, or better still, telling cornerbacks how to play?!?

Quite a role model. A true personality bust if ever there was one. Reading about his childish me-first rant was almost as good as Cutler proclaiming himself better than Elway.

Don't get me wrong, we have problems in SD, like when a DC gets fired and all of our players man up and claim responsibility for their own poor play that contributed to the firing. Er, oh wait, that's accountablity, heart, AND character. Somethng foreign to the Donks.

Oh, and here, let me save some trouble for all the unoriginal mongoloids that will surely jump in with the following lame response as if it really matters:

"Championships, something foreign to the Chargers". Sure, just as foreign as they are to any one in a Donk uni as well kids.:coffee:

Cutler never said he was better than Elway.

Marshall is a primadonna and I don't think anyone will deny that, but talent wise, he is exponentially better than any WR the Chargers can throw on the field.

Let's see:

TD's/ypc avg/%receptions for 1st down/rec 20+ yds/rec 40+yds

VJ: 4/17.9/90%/8/4 also, 30 receptions for 538 yds
CC: 5/17.1/68.8/2/0 also 16 receptions for 273 yds
BM: 3/12.3/62.7/0/0 51 receptions for 625 yds

So your boy, with almost double VJ's catches gets under 100 more yards, no big play ability, fewer touchdowns, oh yeah, and he's a head case.

VJ's production alone, especially judged per catch, surpasses BM. VJ has a 90% first down percentage, BM? 62%. Also, VJ averages 17+ yards per catch, BM? 12.3.

VJ is better, period. Oh wait, BM does have the bigger ego and attitude and willingness to throw his team under the bus. He also pouts and whines better than VJ. I guess BM is better at somethings.

Congratulations, the only thing you've proven with your "Brandon Marshall" and "Jay Cutler" threads is that your defense MUST be worse than ours, because CLEARLY your offense is SO much better than ours, and yet you have won one less game than we have, and have lost a game to us.

The triple coverage includes the safety.

I would say our "other receiver" is having a pretty good year

46 catches for 461 yards and 3 TD (a ROOKIE)...thats a projection of over 90 catches and almost 1000 yards with a game missed.

If you knew the game (m'kay) you would realize that good receivers draw more attention which effects statistics. If we go by YPC Devery Henderson is the best WR in the league....I mean, he has only a few less yards than that stud VJ in nearly half the catches

Nice backpedal unless your mastery of english is that poor. "Triple coverage with safety help over the top"? Maybe it can be read to cover your backpedal, buuuuut I don't think that's what you were saying.

Also, VJ is on track for 60 receptions and 1064 yards using your methodology, with 8 td's.

Chambers would be on track for 889 yards with 52 catches um, and that's missing three games already this season. Oh yeah, and 13 touchdowns. Again, using your method of projecting the season.

Lastly, our wide recievers are still kicking the stuffing out of BM and ER with a pro-bowl TE on our team that is our #1 receiver for all intents and purposes. So really, it's like putting our #2 and #3 WR's against your #1 and #2.

Cherry pick the Henderson analogy if you want, but I looked at the stats across the board and nothing you've offered up, weakens the plain reality of what I'm sayin'.:coffee:

First off...you are making up stats. BM has receptions over 20 yards. He AVERAGED 25.8 ypc vs NO and has had 4 other games with catches over 20 ypc. Now the 20 catch effort in week 2 (after missing a week) does hurt the ypc, but it also demonstrates his ability to be dominant. VJ takes advantage of LT and AG's leftovers and gets to face 2nd rate CBs and Safeties while BM gets matched up w/ the best defender the opponent has to offer PLUS help.

VJ looked GREAT dropping that easy TD vs NO by the way...but at least it didn't cost you a win or anything. Oh...wait... Please try harder next time. Thanx for playing.

LOLWUT

What does Chambers have to do with anything? The fact that VJ is not even the #1 target on your own team (a 3-5 team, mind you) should be enough to convince anyone that VJ is not a top 5 receiver in this league. I have no argument about Chambers, he is a stud.

But again, if Chambers draws more attention, should effect the ease of your other receivers getting open. Do you understand how coverage works, or do you just think one player on defense has one player on offense that they cover? I mean, it would make sense...11 = 11, right?

Sorry if you didn't understand my wording, but in no way do I think BM draws quadruple coverage...

What I said about Henderson is not an "analogy", its a comparison....and a legit comparison since your reasoning for VJ being a better receiver is because he has a better YPC.

Henderson is on pace to catch half the passes of VJ for the same amount of yards...OMG STATS DO TELL THE WHOLE STORY ABOUT WHO IS THE BEST PLAYER.

AGAIN.... 4-4 > 3-5

Interesting, when I ran the statistical comparison engine on NFL.com for all three receivers, it came up with 0 for 20+ yarders for BM, however, on the long form stat sheet, it does show 8, same as VJ. So yes, that one stat I harped on was incorrect.

Many apologies, BM has exactly as many 20+yd receptions as VJ, just not VJ's 4 40+ yarders, or much higher stats in other relevant areas.:D

Mmm, depends. So BM catches the dink and dunk 3 yard balls??? We have LT, Sproles, and Gates for that sort of lifting. In terms of being able to stretch the field and make plays (you know, what WR's really do) I'll take the YPC. It's especially sad that BM has but 90 odd yards to show for 20 more receptions. Don't get me wrong, we have problems in SD, like when a DC gets fired and all of our players man up and claim responsibility for their own poor play that contributed to the firing. Er, oh wait, that's accountablity, heart, AND character. Somethng foreign to the Donks.

chief among them being that san diego fans aren't that concerned about winning-- it is, afer all, a foreign experience to them. . . they're totally happy being the best team to not make the playoffs, as long as they send more guys to the pro bowl than denver. . . right about now they're already slipping back into acceptance of their traditional losing ways like a comfortable pair of old jeans. . .

BOU, if you honestly think vincent jackson is better than marshall (which i know you don't), i dare ya to start a poll on the forum of any other team in the league and ask 'em which player they'd rather have on their squad. . . .

alternately, you can ask your all-pro corner what he thinks of marshall, if the poor guy hasn't gotten hypnotherapy to remove all memory of the utterly savage beating he took. . . hey, speaking of guys who should keep their mouths shut, how's his prediction of sixteen interceptions going?

This dolt fan is an idiot. i cant believe he thinks jackson is better then marshall.
Jackson has never had a good season in his career. he's just an average player.

Marshall had over 100 catches last year and over 1300 yards. jackson doesnt have the skill to achieve those numbers.

you say he has no play making skills. What do you call all of his YAC he gets. Marshall is the hardest WR to tackle after the catch. You say all he does is dink and dunk, first of all that has to do with the play calling but Marshall is 6'5 and has proven he can go deep and beat 1 on 1 coverage.

this idiot dolt fan thinks YPC is all that matters.

then why dont you go sign ashley lelie or something. he led the league in YPC a few years ago with us.
He's such a greatttt WR isnt he.

Marshall will probably go to the pro bowl this year.
Jackson aint going no where except home to watch Marshall on TV in the playoffs and the pro bowl.

Vincent Jackson does not beat out Brandon Marshall. Marshall has the larger skill sets, and more production.

Chris Chambers was touted in Miami as a "Terrell Owens type wideout." He is an underachiever, and always will be an underachiever.

Eddie Royal is a rookie and is blowing people out of the water. A lot of that has to do with him speed, and his hunger when he is on the field. You can tell that Royal is very determined to prove that he was a good draft pick.

However, as much as Royal has to do with his own success, Brandon Marshall has made an impact on Royal's production as well. Marshall draws double teams, and some fans whom I have a tremendous amount of respect for have said he has drawn triple coverage. That is something that players like Randy Moss, T.O. Harrison, Chad Johnson and Steve Smith have done consistently throughout their career.

Another thing to note is that four of of those five wideouts are probably going to the hall........

VJ and Chambers are a fine WR duo. I do not think that anyone is going to assert otherwise. However, to say that either one of them is better than Marshall, or to even imply it is foolish.

Statisitically speaking, VJ is right there this season. Sorry if 20 more 2-3 yard receptions don't get me all excited. I'll take the 40+ yarders, more td's, better ypc, and greater 1st down percentages along with a good work ethic, and team-first attitude. He also blocks better.:coffee:

if "many many many" = none, then i agree with you. . . . :D

if the supposed "consummate team" took on moss and all his baggage, ain't nobody passin' on an emerging young talent like marshall. . .

Statisitically speaking, VJ is right there this season.

he's a year ahead of marshall in terms of develpment, yet marshall's career stats are already well beyond jackson's. . . and marshall goes up against #1 corners almost all of the time, unlike jackson. . . tell me when VJ has ever DDOMINATED a top corner the way marshall did to cromartie? jackson's a one-trick pony-- he's only shown the ability to get open on fly routes and deep crossing patterns. . . four years into his career, and he has yet to show any ability to get consistent seperation on any of the underneath routes, unlike marshall, who can successfully run every route on the tree. . . so yea, his YPC is going to be higher, because they can't go to him on third down when you need someone to beat press coverage and get open quick for the first. . .

jackson is a complimentary player that needs someone else to do the dirty work-- marshall is a complete receiver. . . immaturity aside, that is why 32 GMs and 32 head coaches in the league would take marshall over jackson. . .

it's okay to let this one go, ya know. . . :D

This was hilarious, two big tough guys tailgating out of a VW Bug. There is a word for that for everyone that lives outside california. Those two girls must be the ones you chat with on the phone each night about your new BF that drives the chic ride.

You may also want to spend a little time working on the lower half of your body, you look a little top heavy with those chicken legs and I want to make sure that I do everything i can to keep your VW princess looking your way.

I think for the most part all that has cooled. Everyone's team gets boned now and again by a bad call, it's part of the game. Rarely is it quite so apparently bad, and impactful.

So be it, I use it as a convenient smack-cruth, but hell, it's part of the game. You deal with it and move on.

Kids, this mess started when GEM suggested it was ludicrous to think I wouldn't "kill" to have BM wearing Bolts. I've never said VJ or CC was "better". However, to say that BM has had such a staggeringly great season by comparison is laughable. Throw in his crappy attitude and frankly, many many many coaches and FO's would take a pass on BM by comparison.

However, just to show you that I will give credit to the hated donkeys when it's due, I'll tell you that I too think Eddie Royal is the real deal. I like everything about him so far and congratulate you on a great pick, great find, and unfortunately, a great wide-out.

If the Broncos were ever to release Marshall, he wouldn't last 24 hours on the waiver wire, despite your (most likely pulled-out-of-your butt) claim that "many, many, many coaches and FO's would take a pass" on him.

I can get behind you on Rivers being better than Cutler at this point in time, but you're really reaching right now. Marshall is head and shoulders above any of the Chargers WRs, regardless of what their YPC is, and he would never last on a waiver wire... He'd be gone immediately.

Whether or not he is better has never really been my point. GEM claimed we'd essentially kill to have him because he is soooooooooooooo superior. I pointed out that this season, he really isn't especially. Certainly not on the level suggested by his pundits here. Add in his big mouth and lousy attitude, and I think I've made my case that "no, I wouldn't choose to have him on the Bolts" and for a variety of legitimate reasons.

Lousy attitude? In a game where he had 2 balls thrown his way and we couldn't make headway of any yards on offense, he was upset about not getting the ball. That's not attitude, that's confidence. He knows that if the ball is in his hands he can do something with it. He was trying to make a unity statement after a major thing in history happened. Stupid yes, but his heart was in the right place.

Of course you wouldn't want him, you've always been ok with having scrubs for WR's. You're used to it. :coffee:

Last season before teams really game planned against him look at his numbers. This year it's easy to dismiss him because he always has at least 2 if not 3 guys covering him. None, absolutely NONE of your WR's commands double coverage. LT, yes. WR's no way.

No, our TE commands a double and LT demands a shadow.

As far as BM mouthing off, those games showed him consistently unable to separate from SINGLE coverage. Stop acting like they blanket him with the whole secondary. They don't. He get's singled like many other #1's with safety help, just like everyone else.

And, statistically, he's just not that far ahead of our WR's this season and in some ways, is even lagging a bit. Don't get me wrong, he is a good WR, but you make out like he's the second coming of Jerry Rice which he certainly is not. And the attitude? That speaks for itself.

Your team would sign him off waivers in a heartbeat. They'd be idiots to pass up a talent like his. They'd take TO too... but he's old; Brandon has a lot of playing years left and still hasn't yet reached his peak.

BOU- There is not a sinlge DB in the league (including champ) that can cover brandon one on one.

He is never alone in single coverage with a safety over the top. If he is, we exploit it, and brandon owns.

Look again, you will see one man on press, a S 7 yards deep and another nickle/dime/ LB ready to jump into his route.

The main problem for his numbers, is several fold.

1. our offensive play calling hasnt been very good, imo poor.
2. with no run game, its easier for defenses to double up on brandon and eddie. Especially when our TE's are hurt... That leaves Darrel Jackson- whoopie.

Anyteam would kill for BM and he is worth 2 first rd picks for sure. Players on his level are:

Andre johnson,fitz,boldin,plax,ocho,randy,TO- cept he is younger and only starting to mature and reach his potential.

Tell Charles Woodson and the Packers that a player of TO's caliber can't be covered like that. Last I checked, that is EXACTLY what Woodson and the Packers did to TO, and TO is still a better WR than Marshall is at this point.

No WR is worth 2 first round picks, even if the Redskins tried to give up 2 for Chad and the Bengals decided not to take them.

That said... Until Andre Johnson can do it consistently for a full season and then some, he isn't on level (regardless of his potential), and Marshall is better than Plaxico, IMO.

If you wouldn't want Marshall on your team that's just crazy. Even I would love to have Marshall on the Bengals, and there is nowhere he can fit right now. His mouth isn't as bad as you make it out to be, and his attitude doesn't even compare to a TO.

Fact is, while I can get on board with what some people say, to say you wouldn't want one of the premier WR's in the league (not to mention one of the youngest), is just stone cold nuts.

There is an argument.

Randy Moss was worth what, a 3rd or a 4th?

But Deion Branch was worth a first?

Chad Johnson was worth a guaranteed first rounder, and a third rounder minimum, which could have turned into another first rounder.

The context of the trade is what is most important. No two trades will ever be totally similar, or honestly even moderately similar IMO.
