After a string of unfortunate injuries, the Broncos have made several roster moves to help fill the voids.

The team announced the signing of linebacker Mario Haggan to the roster, and they also signed P.J. Pope and Roderick Rogers to the active roster from the practice squad, Head Coach Mike Shanahan announced.

The Broncos have also waived tight end Chad Mustard and added running back Cory Boyd and linebacker Tyson Smith to the practice squad.

Haggan is in his sixth year in the NFL after spending the last five seasons with the Buffalo Bills, who selected him in the seventh round of the 2003 NFL Draft. He appeared in all 16 games during each of the last four years with Buffalo and has played in 65 career games, totaling 21 tackles, one sack and 57 special-teams stops.

Pope has spent the first nine weeks of the season on Denver’s practice squad, and with the injuries to Andre Hall and Michael Pittman, the Broncos elevated him to the active roster to add depth at running back. He began his NFL career with the Bears in 2006 as a college free agent.

Rogers has also been on the practice squad for the first nine weeks of this season, but he saw action in Denver’s final two games of 2007.

Boyd is a rookie running back out of South Carolina who was drafted by the Buccaneers in the seventh round, but Tampa Bay waived him on July 26.

Smith is a second-year linebacker who joins the Broncos after spending training camp with the Dallas Cowboys. He has appeared in three games for his career, totaling four special-teams tackles for the New York Giants during the 2006 season. Last year, he saw time on the practice squads of the 49ers, Redskins and Cowboys. He entered the NFL in 2005 with Baltimore as a college free agent.

haggan is a quality special teamer, and probably fits best at SAM-- i would imagine he'll either back up winborn, or start if they decide to swing winborn over to WILL. . .

mustard should get frequent flier miles for all his comings and goings. . .

if we lose anybody else, we might be lookin' to sign joe the plumber. . . . :tsk:

Isn't Boyd the guy who gets in fights at the Rookie Symposium?

At least we didn't waste a draft pick on him.

Yes it is Buff.

Yeah, I was just gonna say that we didn't have to waste a 5th rounder on him and got him anyway.

Guess he's just not progressing like they want. Too bad because he looked pretty decent during the preseason.

The Broncos added defensive tackle Matthias Askew to their practice squad ??

See the last paragraph of this article:

Footnotes.

Marshall's plea hearing in Atlanta on misdemeanor battery charges was granted a continuance Monday. . . . The Broncos added defensive tackle Matthias Askew to their practice squad. Askew had visited with team officials last Tuesday.

does Mustard live in a shack behind the practice facilities? Dude should just sign for signing bonuses, rather than time contracts. he would make a ton more money as he signs with the team 8 times a season.

I guessing when they cut him they ask/tell him not to leave the jurisdiction cause he will be called the next injury to someone not RB, CB or LB..
