Good list, but I'd give McCaffrey's spot to either Rick Upchruch or Rulon Jones.

I think it's a great list. I'd rate Zimmerman a lot higher, but that's just me. :salute:

I can only remember back to the 1997 season, so my list will only include players from that point on since I never actually got to watch any of the older players play.

1. John Elway
2. Shannon Sharpe
3. Gary Zimmerman
4. Terrell Davis
5. Champ Bailey
6. Steve Atwater
7. Rod Smith
8. Tom Nalen
9. Al Wilson
10. Ed McCaffery
11. Jason Elam
12. Matt Lepsis
13. Dan Neil
14. Clinton Portis
15. Jake Plummer

This was my order of importance in how I ranked:

1) Hall of Fame
2) How much of their success was with the Broncos
3) How good their career on the whole was (sometimes good enough to supersede #2)

Also, I'm sure I'll get crap for the last two, but Portis was absolutely great while he was here and Plummer did nothing but rack up wins for us.

I loved Jake the Snake! And that Portis game against KC I believe, five touchdowns epic.

There have been WAY too many players during our 50 years, playing in different times to rank them. Obviously it will always start with Elway. The rest are all lumped together.

Not sure if I've ever quoted myself, but....

To add, I'd probably list Floyd Little as #2. Without him, there most likely wouldn't be a "DENVER Broncos".

True, however it is a thread designed just for an individual fans favorite player. Not who was most important or influential to the organization. ;)

I'm not looking at anyone else's list first.

1. John Elway
2. Karl Mecklenberg
3. Shannon Sharpe
4. Louis Wright
5. Floyd Little
6. Rod Smith
7. Tom Jackson
8. Randy Gradishar
9. Terrell Davis
10. Steve Atwater
11. Rich Jackson
12. Champ Bailey
13. Tom Nalen
14. Al Wilson
15. Jason Elam

My rankings are based on quality of play at his position, length of time with the Broncos, identity with the Broncos, leadership skills and importance to the team.

The title of the thread:

doesn't specify either way.

I'm not entirely sure what "Top 15" means so I guess I'll include a mixture of my favorites and who I think of when I think "Denver Broncos".

1. John Elway
2. Randy Gradishar (Actually, my all-time favorite player)
3. Terrell Davis
4. Shannon Sharpe
5. Gary Zimmerman
6. Dennis Smith
7. Steve Atwater
9. Al Wilson
10. Simon Fletcher
11. Karl Mecklenberg
12. Louis Wright
13. Rod Smith
14. Tom Jackson
15. Rick Upchurch

There are so many others I could add and I'm sure in a few minutes I'll be second guessing myself wondering how I could leave players like Lyle Alzado, Jason Elam, Keith Bishop, and Barney Chavous off the list, but these were the first guys that came to mind.

I'd put Zimmerman top 3 after John and TD...

2 all decade teams is unheard of.

Iirc there are five other players named all decade two decades. They are all in the Hall of Fame. Who they are would be interesting trivia.
