A simple form of realignment being seriously considered has been raised in the labor talks between Major League Baseball and the players' association, according to four sources: two leagues of 15 teams, rather than the current structure of 16 teams in the National League and 14 in the American League.

According to a highly ranked executive, one consideration that has been raised in ownership committee meetings is eliminating the divisions altogether, so that 15 AL and 15 NL teams would vie for five playoff spots within each league. Currently, Major League Baseball has six divisions.

A source who has been briefed on the specifics of the labor discussions says that the players' union has indicated that it is open to the idea of two 15-team leagues, but that the whole plan still hasn't been talked through or presented to the owners.

It would force there to be an interleague series every day, which makes it very interesting to me. It would be cool to see interleague year-round. I do think this will make things much more fair though. It's not fair at all to have one division with 6 teams and one division with 4, especially given that you all but have to win your division to make the playoffs.

 You mean MLB finally figured out the obvious  That if you have 30 teams in 6 division, that every division should have exactly 5 teams in it

"I'd still say the odds of it happening are less than 50-50," one source said.

:tsk: Maybe not :tsk:

They said on sports center that if they made this change they would probably not have divisions any more, it would just be 2 leagues of 15 teams.

It would be perfect.

That is all.

Make a more fair, balanced schedule like the NFL...have interleague matchups all season. Go to a standard designated hitter format.

Make the game better. The only thing that disappoints me is not getting to watch Tony LaRussa over think himself and lose games left and right.

I just thought of the perfect counter proposal:

Move New York & Boston out of the AL East & form their own AL Money Bags Division

Baltimore, Toronto & Tampa would be joined by Cleveland, Detroit & Chicago in a new 6 team AL East

Minnesota & Kansas City can join the rest of the AL West to form a 6 team division there

Youd have to do something similar in the NL.

This would all be easier if they could get over the ridiculous DH issue. Then you could move teams anywhere
