The Broncos football brain trust, with John Elway at the top of the team's draft flow chart, was huddled on the second floor of the team's Dove Valley complex Thursday, grinding away the last hours before the NFL draft selections begin.

Only Carolina, at No. 1 overall, will dive in before the Broncos. At No. 2, Elway, general manager Brian Xanders and head coach John Fox are staring down the highest pick in franchise history.

The team likely will have whittled down all of its pre-draft work to a four-player pool — LSU cornerback Patrick Peterson, Texas A&M linebacker Von Miller, Alabama defensive tackle Marcell Dareus and Auburn defensive tackle Nick Fairley.

But the team will listen to any and all trade offers as well, hoping to secure some additional picks if they are able to move down.

Having fairley rated that high is worrisome.

i highly doubt they would pick fairley with the #2....i think he's high on the board in case we get a trade offer in the 7-14 range.where dareus and miller
would be gone:salute:
