A heroine to NFL players, Minnesota District Judge Susan Nelson is no ally to the Broncos' draft strategy.
The Broncos' hopes of trading back from their No. 2 draft position may have been diminished Monday when Judge Nelson ruled to lift the lockout.
It wasn't so much her decision as the timing.
It came at the start of draft week, less than 100 hours before the Broncos will be on the clock with their No. 2 pick.
The Broncos had planned to engage in trade discussions with hopes of dealing the No. 2 pick in return for adding a second- or third-round pick while still selecting in the upper-half of the first round. The Houston Chronicle reported the Texans covet linebacker Von Miller and cornerback Patrick Peterson and are willing to trade up from No. 11 to get one of them.
