According to this story, Florida unveiled statues of its 3 Heisman winners, including one of Tim Tebow.

I think it would have been better for Tebow if Florida had waited until he was further into his career or even finished. But I will freely admit I don't know enough about Tim Tebow to know whether this could go to his head and affect his work ethic and preparation. Just my :2cents:

What are your thoughts on Florida giving Tim Tebow a statue at this time?

Correct me if im wrong but that statue was given for what he has already accomplished at his alma mater. A ledgendary legacy that is worth 10 sb rings with denver or any team in the NFL IMO. He doesnt need to add to his ledgendary status IMO. As far as im concerned the NFL only serves one purpose for me, and thats a chance to continue to watch Tim play after college. let the flaming begin lawls

Some say that if it wasnt for Tim I wouldnt be a Bronco fan... As a kid I liked Elway and the Broncs for a while but the truth is if it wasnt for Teebs I wouldnt give 2 shits about the entire NFL, not just the broncos. They could all take their money grubbing commercialism and shove it right up their greedy asses, owners and players alike.

As for hoping that Tim doesnt get a big head... really? Is that still a question for you? You want to know why hes still a virgin? why hes mr golden boy do gooder? why he is able to deny temptation and practice what he preaches all the time? why he is almost too good a person too be true? why he seems to ALWAYS be working out or else on mission trips ect.?Because idle hands are the devils play ground- and he lives that shit hardcore. He literally fills every second of evrey day with the strive for perfection. His goal is perfection and since he will never reach it he will never let up...ever. He doesnt do things for statues or praise(from people) or money or vajayjay. he understands all these things are byproducts of a certain way of life... but these things are NOT the goal. Like a greyhound, Tim chases that rabbit he will never catch... to be perfect before the eyes of God in everything he does.

And he will continue to trample life at that breakneck speed until the day he leaves this earth and sees his God's face and allll of this just to ask "did I do good pop?".... He knows who his real father is, and what this life is for... hes no sheep. some of us think we aint sheep on account of our intellect but to those i would say: you may be black sheep, but your sheep all the same. Its being part of the herd that makes us sheep, not brains. That bitch stands out like a sore thumb... he be different lol

wether you or I believe in God or think its silly or not, its irrelevent- Tim does beleive that with every fiber. and thats what drives him to do what he does, the way he does it...

so yea ...i think his "work ethic" will be just fine.

I guess if he's earned it so be it.

The Royals have a statue of George Brett in front of Kaufman stadium and the Chiefs have one of Lamar Hunt in front of Arrowhead...

edit not that anyone cares, there is also a statue of Mr.&Mrs.Kaufman as well.

Why would he need to go further in his NFL career? The statue isn't for what he could do, the statue is what he did while at FL. He did lead them to multiple national championships, he did win the Heisman while there. So what if he totally bombs in the NFL, that has nothing to do with what he did while in college.

As the article states - the statues were for the three Florida Heisman winners, Tebow was one of those three - why should he NOT be included?

exactly...wtf dont people talk about that spurrier and the other heisman winner are getting statues.. I cant even remember the other guys name at the moment.
This will not demotivate Tebow in any way shape or form. If anything, it will probably drive him to work even harder. Such is the make up of the man

What'd DWawful do in the nfl?
Mobile Post via Mobile.BroncosForums.com/forumsI didn't say he did anything in the NFL. But to all who are wondering why I wrote my post, the reason is this:

Almost every college or university that retires a former player's number, inducts a former player into the school's hall of fame or gives the player a statue . . . does it years after he/she finished their college career. As a result, it also usually occurs after that player has finished their professional career, if any, or at least more than one season of their professional career. This is evidenced by Spurrier playing in the 60s and Wueffle playing in the 90s, but not getting their statue until 2011.

Now I expect there are a few isolated situations, as evidenced by this one, where a former player has been honored almost immediately after graduating, but to my knowledge those are extremely rare and can probably be counted on one hand.

Never said Tebow's statue should be based in any way on his NFL career.

BTW I posted this article because:
1. It involves a Bronco,
2. This is a fairly slow time to discuss the NFL right now because I am burned out on pre-draft discussions, lockout discussions, McD vs. Shanny discussions, etc., and
3. To generate some conversation and discussion on something not mentioned in #2.

I get the sense that some posters think i was belittling or being derogatory to Tim Tebow or that I am too stupid to realize the statue is for his accomplishments while at Florida. Now some of you may be right that I am stupid, but I do realize that the statue is to honor TT for his accomplishments while at Florida.

As I just stated in my post right before this one, I just have not seen a college or university honor a player this soon after his graduation.
