Just a couple of bits from a SF Gate story this week:

** It's not tampering, but wait until Al Davis gets a load of this.

Quarterback JaMarcus Russell was asked when he last spoke to Lane Kiffin. The answer: Monday night after the Saints game.

"He just called, talked to me about their defense, things he would do if he was here. He's got a lot of times on his hands, so he would pay attention (to) the defense I would have to go up against, leaves me a text message or a voice mail here or there."

** Speaking of tampering, the league office has contacted the Raiders about Davis' public assertion that the Patriots tampered with Randy Moss before their trade last April.

A team official said that a national report about the conversation is "totally untrue." The report said the Raiders had been told they would be fined by the league.

They are actually denying that Al Davis said what he said in the press conference. :pound:

This could almost be out of any senator's "apology"...

Sorry if I offended anybody...
My words were taken out of context...
yada, yada, yada... Davis would fit right in. We heard what the clown said, so don't try to tell us we didn't.

Umm... no. They're denying what the NFL said to Davis in the letter. They're asking for evidence, not threatening action. That's what that's all about.

Yes, but if the Raiders cannot show any evidence, then that's exactly what Goodell in his memos to the teams said would be met with league action; part of that is the "timely" manner, and one season later hardly seems timely.

What pisses me off more than that, though, is Al first trying in the offseason to get Kiffin to quit, then now using cause, just to get out of paying Kiffin. :coffee:
