Welcome back. Today's question comes from Shade Kelly in Los Angeles:

Q: To me it seems obvious: (Kyle) Orton is amazing between the 20-yard lines, and (Tim) Tebow is money in the red zone. Orton is horrendous in the red zone, and watching Tebow try to put together drives last year was torture. Why don't the Broncos utilize both of them to their strengths?

A: Shade, you were the first of a group of folks to pitch this solution to the great quarterback swirl.

Orton is the announced starting quarterback at this point. Tebow is more popular. And some have even wondered why the team would name Orton No. 1 as well as why the Broncos have spent so much time looking at quarterback prospects in this year's draft.

In short, when John Elway and John Fox said Orton is the starter, that sent a segment of the Broncos' faithful into a frenzy, with some saying they wouldn't go to games if Tebow wasn't the quarterback.

It still remains to be seen if both quarterbacks are on the roster if/when training camp opens, but at the moment, it's clear that Elway and Fox see Orton as the starter and Tebow with a chance to compete for the job.

However, no matter how the quarterback position shakes out, if Tebow weren't the starter, the Broncos would certainly find a role for him, most likely in the red zone. They have a significant financial stake in Tebow as well, given the fact that virtually all of his contract is guaranteed.
