There will be two versions of John Fox today — the public figure, and the head football coach.

Fox, the Broncos' new head coach, made his Denver community debut Tuesday morning when he delivered the keynote speech to more than 1,000 business leaders at the Boy Scouts of America annual sports breakfast at the Pepsi Center.

He admitted it was an arena in which he wasn't exactly at ease, though that was hardly evident in his speech, in which he introduced himself by talking about his family and football background. He also promised that the Broncos would "win games" and spoke about the need for the Broncos to draft an impact player with their top pick, No. 2 overall, much like the Carolina Panthers did when they selected Julius Peppers at No. 2 in Fox's first year in Carolina.

"Public speaking is not one of my favorite things to do, but in this case, I think it's a wonderful thing to do," Fox said.

After his speech, Fox left the breakfast at around 8:45 a.m. and headed for the airport, where he, John Elway and Brian Xanders boarded a plane bound for Auburn's Pro Day in Alabama

Auburn, who has two potential Top 5 picks in defensive tackle Nick Fairley and quarterback Cam Newton, is the first stop in a multi-campus tour for the Broncos' brain trust. The group will also visit Alabama (to see defensive tackle Marcell Dareus) and Texas A&M (to see linebacker Vonn Miller) this week. Dareus and Von Miller are also considered possible top five picks.

In the past either the brain trust did not go to such things, it was not reported or they did so wearing a harpo Marx glasses as a disguise.

Let's hope they see other coaches and GMs there and can make a deal to move back a few spots and get another pick or three.

I think teams will be trying to trade back, that are looking at qb's. None are worth top 10, imo.
I just think denver picked the wrong year to pick #2.

Some one just may want one of the big guys and have only one chance to get one. We have a bunch of chances to do so with 4 picks in the top 67 or so.

While it is nice to have such a high pick I'd rather have 5 or 6 picks in the top 90.

There is little doubt in my mind that those 4 aforementioned picks will most likely cost alot more than the possible 6 picks we could have and still have 6 quality guys if we do joy biff it.

Of course we could biff that #2 just as easy.

"The bottom line is, especially with where we pick, we can't miss," Elway said before the breakfast. "So, (it's) a chance to get around them and meet them a little bit. It's not so much the workout, because we saw them work out at the combine, but it's really about getting to spend some time with them."
