It was pretty cool. Friday night.
There I was on the edge of a the crowd (2,000 capacity sell out)
at the Grizzly Rose. Pat Green was playing. Big time country concert.

Suddenly, I hear Pat Green do a shout out to "John Fox of the Broncos!"

All the drunks around me missed it. My buddies missed it.
I was all over it. I knew where to go... over by the VIP section.

Sure enough... there he was. My phone camera has no flash.
I tried anyway. Nothing but dark blur. :tsk:

So I ambled on over... timed it just right.
He was just outside the VIP area, hanging in the aisle.
The band was jamming... it was a cool scene.
He wore a casual black shirt, tails untucked.
Looked just like his pics...

As he spun around, I was there.

"Hey, Coach!" says I.

"Hey back atcha!" Says Fox.

I put out my hand. He shook it.

"I went to my first game at Bears stadium in 1967" I tell him.
"I love the Broncos, and I am thrilled that you are here to help us out."

"That's great." Says he, grinning from ear to ear.

"I have every bit of faith that you will turn this thing around, Coach" I said.

"I plan to do just that, Son!" He exclaimed with a big smile.

He raised his hand up high... I slapped him five.

Not wanting to camp out on the guy like a goober...
I started off...into the crowd.

"Go Broncos!" Fox called out, as I walked away with a big smile on my face.

I know there will be someone come on and say...
"No picture.. it didn't happen."

The curse of the Android Zio - no flash - no indoor, late night concert pics.

No big deal, 'cause I know it happened. That is all that matters.
The guy was cool and personable. A good old boy. I am still smiling.

That, and I got the number of this hot little blonde....

My buddy said the same thing.. "Did you ask him...?"

Hey , I knew better.

About the "condescending Son." I did not take it that way at all.
Dude is an older authority figure from the south.
It is a figure of speech... it made me feel comfortable and accepted by him.

Truth? He made me feel like I was part of the Broncos family.:D

Man, coolness. congrats, that's a good day. Good to hear that he's approachable. I'm sure it would get tiring to be hung onto all the time, but at least he appears to know who his customers are. Good on ya, mate!

Congrats Painter - was he there alone, or did he have someone with him?

There is this big section of VIP seating to the left of the stage.
I am sure he had access to that area... his people would have been inside there.

I met him in aisle just outside that area... he was talking with 2 very attractive women...
then he spun around and I met him.

So... I can't really say who he was with... I just had that moment...
then left him alone.

It is a big place....

Painter is old school . . . meaning he has a thicker skin than today's generation.
We never took offense at "son" when we were young. More secure, I guess . . .

Painter, I have read your posts for years, and I can categorically say you would
rather die than to write something false. Oh, you may occasionally "Mark Twain"
your stories a bit (which is one reason I like them), but you are always straight
up. :salute:

I swear by all that is holy... I WILL get a new android with a flash next time I can.....
I bought this one... and kept looking for the photo flash...
the guy at the store looked...
( I bought it when Cricket first came out with 'em)
and we both were amazed when he called someone and we found out -
NO FLASH!

Every time I see an android with a flash I curse under my breath.

I am likely to trade up soon.... I hate choosing when I go out...

"Do I bring my camera so I can take pics at night...
or do I bring my phone so I can get phone numbers?

OH... I went out with that blonde last night....
I brought the camera and yep... wore a black shirt!
Here you go.
(I might hang out with Laurie for a while...
If she let's me... she says we gotta go REAL SLOW..
that's hard for me to do... I got no first gear!)

Make Love, Not War!

How did you know my boots are size 12?

Funny thing, when I was younger... tall and really skinny...
plenty of fights came my way...
now.. eh...
at 6ft 2in... 210 lbs...
nobody seems to want to start any crap anymore.

Go figure. Maybe they feel sorry for the old man. I'll be 53 soon.

All the responsibilities and none of the rights.
