Top of NFL draft to be heavy on defense

Last year, six of the top 10 players selected in the draft were defensive players, and 20 of the 32 first-round picks were defensive players. My top 100 this year — only a sketch, really, because it's so early, before the pro days, the combine, etc. — had 21 defensive players in the top 32, with an either/or for a 22nd.

If the draft goes similar to that projection, ot would beBlog: All Things Broncos back-to-back years of 20 or more defensive players in the first round. Toss in 2006, when five of the top 10 were defensive players, but 19 of the top 32 picks were defensive players, and that might just be a shift in the making.

No surprise here.

Now, if some offensive talent would start to rise insuring there would ve quality defenders available for our two second reound picks.

There will be some QB's and Wideouts getting attention. Some RB's.. everybody needs o-lineman... enough teams will take a top flight offensive guy that we will get some good choices at the #2 second round pick...
and I think the one we got from miami is pretty high as well.

This is one of those drafts about which our front office has to realize "to whom much is given, much is required..."
Don't hose this up, boys! We need onfield results with this kind of opportunity.

It is our lucky year because we need defense!

There has been nothing lucky about this year.
