100% earned, Shannon. Can't wait to hear your speech, but your brother introducing you (as I assume he will) is gonna be at least as good. :salute:

Glad the Broncos are finally getting some love. Somebody remind the voters how good Atwater was, will you?

Though I don't expect any more inductees for a while, at least we've gotten some recent representation. August 6th will be a great day in Broncoland.

Now for TD, Atwater, Nalen and some more.

who are the big names who will become eligible in 2012?

SmilinAssasSin27
02-05-2011, 11:14 PM
Found this on a message board...

Parcells will be eligible in 2012 with Will Shields and Tiki Barber and that’s looking like a good year for clearing up some of the current backlog before the competition becomes brutal again – Ogden, Strahan, Sapp, Larry Allen, Morten Andersen, Priest Holmes, John Lynch in 2013. Derrick Brooks, Marvin Harrison, Tony Dungy, Zach Thomas, Shaun Alexander (not a fan) in 2014. We can also pencil in Kurt Warner, Junior Seau and Isaac Bruce as 1st time eligible in 2015.

Looks to me like there isn't much star power coming soon and the "backlog" may very well be cleared up. Of that list, all I see as having any chance at all are:
2012-Parcells
2013-Ogden, Sapp, Allen
2014-Harrison
2015-Warner?

The other names may have a shot eventually, but I'm not so sure. If we want TD, Atwater, Stink, Rod and Nalen in, it could happen during this window. Although Bettis and CMart are legit, Holmes, Alexander and Tiki have NO shot at HOF. After Dermotti Dawson Ogden and MAYBE Shields, our guys have just as much of an argument as anyone. Atwater is better than Lynch and was a bigger name during his era. There are some WR threats besides Marvin, so Rod may feel the brunt of that...

Any fan may nominate any qualified person who has been connected with pro football in any capacity simply by writing to the Pro Football Hall of Fame. The only restriction is that a player and coach must have last played or coached at least five seasons before he can be considered.

http://www.profootballhof.com/hof/selectionprocess.aspx

Guess we need to get something going then - I would suggest someone contact Jeff Legwold, with the Denver Post, as he is the press representative for the Broncos, and get names/email addresses to send nominations to. We would not want to flood them with many names, so restrict it to 1 or 2 Broncos each year.

I think Atwater and TD have the best shots. I think we should make a run at this for these guys. I'll send in their names and we need a bunch to start pounding em w/ emails.

Since the process just ended, there may be a certain time that they will receive emails from fans.

Even though I thought you were an arrogant a-hole most of your career, you were OUR arrogant a-hole most of your career and you always backed it up.

Looking forward to his speech, but I'll probably DVR it so I can skip around Deion.

I think Rod may be in with a chance as well, possibly the best undrafted player in history.

But Shannon deserves his call, fantastic on the field, hilarious off it

Which Super Bowl was it where he caught a pass down at the one yard line and got tackled funny and missed the rest of the game?

That was against Atlanta, very early in the game. Byron Chamberlain filled in and did a good job.

Nope, that was the game they inducted Shannon into the Broncos Ring of Fame, their hall of fame for Broncos players. He'd been out of the league for five years at that point (pretty sure it's five years before you can be inducted into the ROF) It happened prior to the Cleveland game kickoff two years ago. It indeed, was one of the coolest things I've seen. He came into the stadium over the stands where I was sitting. Absolutely insane.

Just a thought - the ceremony for the HOF inductees is on the same day as the HOF preseason game. If the CBA is not agreed upon in a timely manner, there may not even be a HOF preseason game this year. If that is the case, IMO, that would take away some of the luster for this year's inductees. I have not heard if the NFL has any contingency plans, based on the uncertainty of when a new CBA will be in place.
