Well this is pretty much a whitewash. It's like watching the Broncos - Raiders game (the first one) all over again. One thing I noticed is that the AFC defensive ends are pretty much putting out as little effort as possible as far as a pass rush is concerned. I totally understand, nobody wants to see anybody get hurt. What's sad, though, is that they still look like they're putting out more effort than Ayers on most plays. :tsk:
Oh, for those not watching (which I assume is most people) it's now 42-0 with 4:32 left in the first half.
Ravage!!!

Its why I never watch the pro-bowl. Everyone moves as if they are in 1/2 motion mode.... and dont blame them. Who cares?
I mean, we know the NFC isn't dominant over the AFC...except in the pro-bowl game.
Ravage!!!

also shows that there isn't a chance for them to come back when you have Matt Cassel in as the QB

I understand you're joking, but Ayers plays with effort. He was a BIG reason we beat the Titans.

It's 42=0 coming up on halftime and both teams are completing passes to the NFC with stunning regularity. Sure makes me think the NFLPA bet heavily in Vegas on the NFC so they'll have a bigger warchest for the lockout.

Maybe this is not accurate, but I thought I heard that in the pro bowl, you can not rush the QB.

I always watch it because I know that there are only 2 weeks of football left and I loathe the NBA. This is a depressing time for me as a sports fan. I'm just enjoying what little football, no matter how bad the quality, I have left while I wait for pitchers and catchers to report.
I have officiating semi-pro games to look forward to, but it's not the same. Those are fun in a different kind of way.

You can't blitz the QB, but you can rush 4. I really would hope they wouldn't rush the QB, so I don't mind them taking it easy.
Quick update - AFC is on the board with 1:54 left in the first half. NFC-42 AFC-7
You can't stop Jamal Charles. You can only hope to contain him.

Unfortunately, I'm not really exaggerating much about Ayers. I started focusing on him about halfway through the season after I noticed that he took (what I thought were) a couple of plays off. If you have a chance to go back and watch him you can see that he gives very little effort on most plays. Occasionally he comes up with something but most of the time even a novice like me can see that he isn't trying that hard.

The following is on Wikipedia - so never know if it is accurate or not:
Rule Differences
The Pro Bowl has different rules from other NFL games to make the game safer.
* No motion or shifting by the offense
* Offense must have a tight end in all formations
* Intentional grounding is legal
* Defense must run a 4-3 at all times
* No press coverage except inside the 5 yard line
* No blitzing
* Not allowed to rush a Punt, PAT or FG attempt

This is a depressing time for me as a sports fan.
Me too. The time between the end of the playoffs and March Madness personifies the "dead" of winter, as evidenced by all the trash on sports channels this time of year. (X Games, dog shows, poker tournaments...)

Did Charles have a good game? I can't remember the last time I watched the Pro Bowl...even with several of the Chiefs playing I still didn't have an interest in watching it.

Charles did okay, but for the life of me I couldn't figure out what Cassel was doing there . . .

Yep, there were one or two series where it looked like the NFC had no interest in tackling him.

Peyton and Rivers weren't much better. At least in the 1st half. I didn't pay too much attention in the 2nd.

It doesn't matter really...not like he was taking his place in the SB...Cassel had a pretty good season...helped his team get to the playoffs...meh..like I said I could care less about the PB.

The 4th qtr of Pro Bowls can be pretty good if the game is close. The 3rd period of yesterday's NHL All-Star game wasn't bad because it was a close game.
I'm a sports junkie so I had a good time yesterday watching Celts/Lakers, then NHL All-Star followed by the Pro Bowl.
That was far better than what's on sports tonight which is zilch.

Peyton didn't play much, but Rivers came alive in the second half. But Cassel
didn't look to me like he even belonged there. There just seemed a huge drop
in talent compared to any of the other five QBs. Maybe it's just my own
impression, I don't know -- but I was not impressed with Cassel's arm at all,
after seeing the others.

IMO, the team helped Cassel to get there. It certainly didn't hurt that the
Chiefs had the #1 running team in the league and a strong defense. That
made Cassel look better than he is, and it showed yesterday, IMO.

The best CB in that game happened to be an alternate.
So much for the veracity of the Pro Bowl . . .

Guess you haven't seen many Broncos games. One (1) TD pass surrendered in
two years. Shut down all the receivers you saw in the Pro Bowl throughout
the season, whom he played.
I don't know whom you think you're laughing at, but it should not be at a
future HOFer who is still playing at an elite level, no matter what your feelings
are toward the team he plays for.

Tops i think Chump is a great corner, had an outstanding year. He was arguably the best on the field yesterday. I misread and thought you were again stating best in NFL. You want to parade him as the best at the Pro Bowl, go ahead and celebrate. :elefant:
My feelings for your team are not a factor here. :coffee:

Sorry, my friend, but I do hold that Champ is the best in the NFL. That is
from his game-to-game, on-field performance.
And I question the taste and judgment of anybody who roots for the Raiders.

Expressed by one poster who roots for another team, and saluted by another
poster who roots for another team. In other words, those who did not see
Champ play a whole lot last season. I saw a CB who flat shut down the other
team's best receiver, game after game, despite the Broncos' lack of a pass
rush.
See, that's the difference: Asomugha had the benefit of a semblance of a
pass rush; Revis had a pass rush; McCourtey had a pass rush. Champ did not.
His situation gave "on an island" a new meaning.
That is not an orange-colored statement. Champ achieved what he did
with what may have been the worst excuse for a pass rush in the league . . .
-----

No he didn't. The Patriots pass rush was horrible for the most start. Their sack leader was Mike Wright who had something like 5 sacks and missed the final 6 games of the season.
McCortey made some unbelievable picks is what he did.
EDIT: I assume you're referring to Devon

My friend, the Pats had 36 sacks this last year. The Broncos had 23.
These numbers are also reflective of the QB pressures, if you look beyond that . . .

So, our boy Brandon Lloyd really showed why he deserved to be there, huh? Targeted what, 5 or 6 times (four of those passes hit him in the hands) and made I think one catch? He looked like his old SF/Washington/Chicago self all over again!
When he caught his one pass, he didn't forget to do the "you can't see me" thing, though... he was on point with that.

bonus besides other corners in action he'll get to see some quality football for a change
