I haven't heard much about any of the other OT's taken in the draft. I have only heard about Clady, and well, that's because I am a Bronco's fan :elefant:

I think Otah is playing well in Carolina...and he better, because they gave up next years #1 to get him. He fits in well with their physical style though, and is definitely more of a bruiser than Clady is. I think Otah is playing on the right side of the line.

A little peice from PFW on Gosder Cherilus...
Cherilus appears poised to take over Lions' ORT spot (http://www.profootballweekly.com/PFW/NFL/NFC/NFC+North/Detroit/WWHI/2008/wwhi091908.htm)

Head coach Rod Marinelli hasn’t said anything official yet, but it’s looking more likely that first-round pick Gosder Cherilus will take over full time at right tackle for George Foster, who started the first two games there. In the first half of the loss against the Packers, Foster struggled against Packers DE Aaron Kampman and was replaced in the second half by Cherilus, who appeared to hold up fairly well, not allowing any sacks. The Lions had wanted to bring Cherilus along slowly after believing he wasn’t ready to start following the preseason. But Foster’s play, coupled with the team’s struggles to run the ball, apparently has changed the coaches’ minds about their rookie tackle. Cherilus likely would be the first backup option at left tackle, too, so if OLT Jeff Backus were to get hurt, Cherilus probably would replace him and Foster would go back to right tackle.

Haha, he's taking over for Foster...that isn't saying much.

Jake Long is playing well for Miami also.

Well, if it's pass protection, Clady hasn't allowed a sack; the only sack Cutler has is the fumble call.

Here are the amount of times the QBs have been sacked per team; not saying it was the rookie's fault, though. Don't have those stats. And assuming the rookie starts.

* Miami (6 sacks) - Jake Long(LT)
* Denver (1 sack - actually 0, it was the fumble call) - Ryan Clady(LT)
* KC (9 sacks) - Branden Albert(LT)
* Carolina (4 sacks) - Jeff Otah(RT)
* Atlanta (5 sacks) - Sam Baker(RT)
* Houston (5 sacks) - Duane Brown(LT) - oh this is for just one game :D

Bears - Chris Williams(LT) - Injured; has a history of back problems. A lot of us, including myself, wanted this guy to be our LT; phewww ... good thing Shanny got Clady. :listen:
Detroit - Gosder Cherilus(RT) - Recently took over George Foster's slot, as Skinny's posted.

I saw Long give up 1 sack against the Jets, but I'm surprised he gave up another one. I think he only gave up 1 sack all year last year in college. Coincidence, or is the Big 10 just completely overrated?

No matter how the other tackles turn out, I think we picked the right guy. Clady is perfect for our ZBS...huge, but athletic and mobile. He definitely needs some work in the run blocking department, but it's hard to complain about a rookie LT that hasn't given up a sack after 4 preseason games and 2 regular season games.

I saw this in fanhouse and remembered this thread ....

Miami Dolphins' Jake Long an OK Left Tackle, Great Right Tackle
http://nfl.fanhouse.com/2008/09/24/every-play-counts-miami-dolphins-jake-long-an-ok-left-tackle

Anyway, it says Jake Long has performed better at run blocking as a RT than at pass protection as a LT.

Even before the draft, the scouts were saying that Clady was the best pure RT of the bunch, and they were right. What a steal. :cheers:

does that mean we have to find another OT to play left?

Albert has been getting manhandled. I can not wait to see thomas blow him up on Sunday :defense:

Correction: Keept forgeting how he is not playing guard in NFL... So let Moss, Engle, and Dumervile tear him up. I guess 4 sacks!

That's what they get for drafting a G to play LT. Hey Herm, why not draft a LT to play LT instead? :D
