Good for him. I'm sure he'll do fine. He's got a great young QB that looks like he'll fit McFired's system.
He needs to mature a lot more before he's given as much authority as we gave him. I don't think anyone has said that he doesn't have a good offensive mind, just not a good personell guy yet.
Glad he's done in Denver though.

As an OC Josh will be fine. Good move for the Rams.

from the article on nfl.com
"In McDaniels' first season with the Broncos, Kyle Orton set career highs for passes, completions, passing yards, touchdown passes and passer rating while tying his career low for interceptions. Orton's 3,802 passing yards were the sixth-highest for a season in Broncos history.

The Broncos were seventh in the NFL in passing yards and 13th in total offense this past season."
if they keep him focused on what he needs to be focused on.....he could put the rams back in contention, bradford will have a good chance to become elite.
look what he did with orton in short order:salute:

Bradford and Jackson, they will score some points.

Bradford and Jackson, they will score some points.

You would think, but watching what happened here. Plus, Jackson tends to get hurt as well so we shall see. The good news is they have a much better QB than Cassell or Orton and a group of players who have chemistry together.

Yea I think it's a really good hire. He isn't in charge of player personnel so he can't really ruin anything there. He might be a pompous ass but if the players believe that he can make them better they are going to listen and buy into him.

Josh has already met with Sam and said ""He's our quarterback. We can't predict the future. He's our quarterback, we want him to be our quarterback, we made that very clear to him and we hope he feels the same way,"

Not bad! I've always like St. Louis as a second team, unless they play us.
I wish Josh success!

The Rams gained a superlative OC, IMO. In fact, I wouldn't have minded, had
he stayed here as OC . . . just keep him away from any personnel decisions.
Of course, that wasn't about to happen, anyway . . .

One of my co-workers from St Louis is infuriated by this news. He finds it odd because I guess Spagnolo or whatever has had a feud with Josh dating back to the New England days. I never heard much about it, but he says this could be toxic.

I just laughed at him most of the day because he was so upset. I think he wants to fight me after work now!

i hope he is a miserable failure....totaly ruins the rams offense with his bubble screens...chases jackson away by refuseing to run him....and is fired and disgraced forever ...never to have another nfl job and ends up as special teams coach on his fathers high school team where they give up 26 return tds

That’s apparently why the Rams have let fullback Mike Karney know he won’t be back with the team, according to Jim Thomas of the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.

New offensive coordinator Josh McDaniels doesn’t have much use for a true blocking fullback without great versatility, so the move has already been made.

“I hear my bro Karney was released,” Rams running back Steven Jackson wrote on Twitter. “I’m bummed out about the news but that’s the business. He’s my true friend & not just a teammate.”

Wait, I thought he traded Hillis because he COULDN'T block. And wait, Hillis was pretty versatile...I think McD might actually have some kind of emotional disorder, who knows which Josh your gonna get on any given day.

After a terrific rookie year, Rams quarterback Sam Bradford has mixed feelings about learning a new offense under Josh McDaniels.

“Part of me’s a little bit frustrated,” Bradford said Wednesday to Jenni Carlson of The Oklahoman. “I was really looking forward to spending more time in the West Coast [offense] and really getting into detail this offseason.”

Then again, Bradford recognizes that working under a new offensive boss could be a boost.

“But part of me’s extremely excited to be working with Josh McDaniels. If you look at what he’s done with some of his offenses and some of his quarterbacks in the past, as a quarterback you can’t not be excited to be in one of those offenses,” Bradford said.

McDaniels and Bradford haven’t even met yet, which we find rather odd. (Jim Harbaugh and Alex Smith are old pals and Smith isn’t even signed for 2011.)

“I’m sure [I'll meet McDaniels] sometime down the road,” Bradford said. “When that is, I don’t know.”

McDaniels would be wise to set up a meeting before a possible work stoppage, so Bradford can start to help teach the new offense to his teammates over the offseason.

I think this was a good lesson for Josh. He learned that you can't micromanage your way to success as a head coach in the NFL, and he's already shown an aversion to going to teams with front offices as dysfunctional as ours, which is a plus for him. He'll probably stick around in St. Louis for 2-3 years, build another elite offense and then coast into his 2nd head coaching gig before he's 40. Not a bad way to live I guess.

I would put MONEY down on the HC and OC getting into heated arguments before the season is over, and Josh leaving at Season's end.
