Not sure if this beats John Elway on Twitter, but the Broncos retained their OC Mike McCoy, who also could have gone to Clev or KC.

In other news, the sky is blue.

I gotta be honest, I don't know enough about him. Now that McPenis is gone, I'll have to judge him on his own merit.

I do not know enough about Ben McDaniels, I would think it would be a good idea to just move on from the entire McDaniels family. Blood is thicker than water always and forever.

Denver Broncos offensive coordinator Mike McCoy will remain with the team to work under new coach John Fox, according to a source with knowledge of the situation.

McCoy is a former quarterback who competed in Denver’s 1995 training camp as a rookie free agent.

McPenis? Thats a new one

I don't know if I like it or not. I just hope we don't see 10 qb draws a game next year. :fight:

It would be unfair to judge McCoy based on our offense during the final 3 games...he was thrown into a bad situation with a rookie QB that hadn't had many practice reps throughout the year. That said, he sure didn't impress me with his playcalling.

People need to quit thinking that the playbook won't change. McCoy was not running McCoy's playbook he was running McDumbshit's, and he was terribly hamstrung because of it.

I feel a more experienced OC would have been preferable, but I guess we'll see what the real McCoy is all about.

The Denver Broncos are keeping stability on offense.

ESPN’s Adam Schefter reports that Mike McCoy will remain the Broncos’ offensive coordinator. He was also getting interest in Kansas City and in Cleveland.

This move makes complete sense for Denver. McCoy worked for new Denver coach John Fox in Carolina prior to coming to Denver and working for former Denver head coach Josh McDaniels.

The biggest personnel question in Denver is the future of quarterback Tim Tebow. Fox is a defensive specialist, so he’ll need to have a coach who believes he can develop Tebow.

The fact that McCoy decided to stay in Denver rather than go to the Chiefs or the Browns is an indication that he believes he can make it work with Tebow. McCoy called plays after McDaniels was fired, and Tebow made strides when he started in the final three games of the season under McCoy’s guidance.

This continuity will only help Tebow moving forward.

Names that have surfaced for Denver’s defensive coordinator include Ron Meeks, Sal Sunseri and former Atlanta and Seattle coach Jim Mora.

I'm not so sure I would be happy with a D coord. with Meek in his name.. He may be all set to inherit the earth but can he rip the head off a downhill runner and shit down the neck of a hitch and go?

Sean McDermott got fired in Philly. I wouldn't mind if we went to grab him.

I dunno. McDermitt had a defense, a scheme and tutoring from a legend handed to him...and he was fired 2 years later.

Kyle Orton probably hates this news.

I just hope we're not afraid to shake up the depth chart in a few places if we need to. Continuity is good and I like loyal coaches, but I hope Studesville doesn't lobby too hard for solid but very average journeymen types like Lance Ball...

... that Denver is making a serious effort to keep McCoy as their offensive coordinator. According to the network reporter they wanted to keep some form of continuity for Tebow if at all possible.

He also stated that Denver has NO intentions whatsoever of trading Tebow and that since Orton didn't seem willing to accept a back-up role they expect the minimum of a 3rd round pick which could upgrade into a 2nd round pick.

According to the story... while Fox and Elway both see Tebow as raw and unfinished they intend to give him every possible chance to develop as Denver's starter.

So that is how they see this thing on the National Level.

Yeah I saw that too. I also heard Fox's presser and IMHO it sounded like he was having a hard time figuring out what to say about eyOrton.

The boring one is done in a Bronco uni and I will throw a party the day it becomes official. He's a doosh

This is the most pertinent part of the news.

McCoy worked under Fox before.. that is a good thing...
we already know they get along.

McCoy liking Tebow, and having a good relationship with Fox is HUGE.
The alternative of some guy coming in and assessing the QB situation cold...might not have been good.

McCoy knows how deceptive Kyle's pretty stats are.
He knows that Kyle looks good in camp and practice... when there is no pressure.
He knows that Kyle folds under pressure and cant win the big games.
He has witnessed first hand the "phantom sacks".

I like it so far...

The fact that we scored over 20 points in each of those games (28 vs the #1 defense) for the first time all year in a three game span, makes me want to see what he's got before i run him out of town. our offense was much more exciting to watch when he was coaching it...

He's a 4-3 guy but he did learn under Jim Johnson (I think his first name was Jim.) who terrific defensive coordinator.

I'm not so much worried about the playbook as I am all the dumbass 3rd and long QB draws we saw that are going to get Tebow KILLED. Hopefully McCoy is smarter than the playcalling we saw in the final 4 games, including the horribly called Arizona game.

Playbook - not worried about

Playcalling - very concerned about
