Before the Broncos fired coach Josh McDaniels, he continually talked of having "tough, smart, physical" players. But personnel executives in the NFL believe the word "fast" didn't come up nearly enough.

Speed Kills. So does age. I don't know why they couldn't see 9 of 11 starters on D being 30+ wasn't a good thing

This team needs a serious YOUTH MOVEMENT in all phases of the game.

Yeah... we know we need to revamp our whole defense....
it has been ignored for years. Signing aged veterans was McD's hallmark on D.
Thankfully.. on offense we have a pretty good start.

There are those that claimed we were making this great youth movement, but that is only 1/3 true.

We have some youth on the O side of the ball. Personally, I think our line is going to be very good and sooner rather than later.

I don't count Moreno's youth because it isn't clear he can stay healthy. Same for Demaryius.

Outside of that, we need MUCH MORE youth especially on the D. I want them to be treated like Clady. Starter until proven otherwise. Let them play and learn. Of course it will create some lean years but it will be worth it in the long run.

I would say Moreno and Thomas count because they are still young, staying healthy is an altogether different matter in my mind.

The Moreno pick really is starting to piss me off.

I 100% agree with this article...we lack speed and youthful talent.

For all of McDaniels talk about being smart and tough his teams were neither. They were just old and slow especially on the defensive side of the ball.

the teams needs speed. but it needs talent too. i seem to remember shanahan having the fastest linebacker group in the league. but they were too small and got tired as the season wore on.

it would be nice to say the only thing the broncos need is speed. it's just not that easy. the last two coaches really wrecked the core of this team.

But they were a TEAM!!!!! I can't believe after all this time you haven't read the memo that being good TEAM players trumps talent. I'll fax my copy to you. :D

Does this sound familiar? Sorry Shanny but, you suck, and you left us with an aging piece of shit defense, which McD tried to fix just like you did.

Good riddance to both!

The Skins now get to see just what Shanny does. Hell, they've already got a pretty good taste.

I love Buck. Remember his run against Cleveland last year? Beautiful from 525.
