Besides, this was a more exciting play. The last 14:40 of the game was bleh.

That run cracked me up.

He didn't have to slide, and he realized it afterward... He's just so used to going down as soon as he has to.

Probably a career high for him, too. :salute:

Or his opponent had him!

But seriously, WTF Peyton? That was an easy TD if he doesn't slide. What a little girl.

I thought it was smart, considering he had a D-linemen closing in on his ass

if there wasn't, he would have went in

Just noticed the game situation. I guess it was smart to slide there. But still, he could have scored.

I thought he should have dove in for the score, the hell with injury possibilities.

If he would have scored, then they end up kicking it back to the Raiders with a minute and half left on the clock. By sliding, he took a knee three times and the game was over.

With the Raiders already putting a 99 yard TD on them, it was the right thing to do.

That's true. You guys are right. Dumb post by me. Carry on!

I didn't even know Peyton Manning could run until I saw that play.

had to laugh when I saw that highlight. Peyton looks a little odd when he's trying to run it like that. There have been a few QB's taking off a little more over the past few games..

Hey, it's like all the other QB's are trying to say "See, I can run like Vick and Tebow too!" :)

OK..After reading through the thread...Northern's post makes more sense than the reason GC gave.

How many guys would intentionally give up scoring a touchdown so as to run out the clock at the end of the game? In this hot-dogging look-at-me-look-at-me league, it's refreshing to see somebody put team needs over his own glory.

Yes, if he scores, the Colts are up 12 with a minute and a half to go but in theory the Raiders could have taken the kick-off, scored a quick TD, recovered an onside kick and scored another TD to win the game. Far-fetched, yes, but possible.

By sliding when he did, Manning assured that the Raiders would not see the ball again and the Colts could walk away with a sure five-point win. It was not only selfless, it was intelligent.

Maurice Jones-Drew did the same thing last year at this time. The only people that are mad are those who had them on their fantasy football team, otherwise it's a non-issue. Guys like DeSean Jackson would've pranced like a fairy around the 5 yard line before scoring.
