add another Tebow fan to the list.

Sorry if this has been posted before.

But thats, Gruden, Young, Elway, McCartney...anyone else?

Meanwhile, all the Denver radio trolls are making these assertions to the contrary.

Wow, McCartney is still going with his praise of Tebow. He has an answer for every one of Klugman's criticisms.

He's using words like "special", "phenom", "the whole package", "you cant coach what this kid has", "the real deal"...again, these are Bill McCartney's words.

Tebow's going to have to prove himself on the field no matter who endorses him! As long as he keeps his head straight, he's a solid leader, and can play the QB position, then I'm all for giving him his due to prove the critics wrong!!

Well considering he has had one start, this is probably something that doesnt need to be said.

And you can do what you want. Its not like your unwillingness to give him a stamp of approval is going to affect any gratification I get from watching him.

I know this is probably something akin to blasphemy on a board devoted to a team from Colorado, but is there any chance that McCartney's praise is biased due to Tebow's Christian stands? (McCartney = PromiseKeepers founder).

Just a question, I'm not making that argument.

Bill McCartney's daughter ended up dating Sal Aunesse the Samoan/Polynesian QB of the CU Buffs while McCartney was coach. Sal Aunesse ended up dying from cancer but not before having a child with Bill's daughter.

Their son, TC, played QB for Fairview for Bill's son and is now at LSU.

I find disparaging Sal (admittedly I am biased because Sal is someone I knew personally) disgusting even if it is through McCartney's daughter.

What others? The only reported and known relationships were Sal and Shannon.

What difference does it make? What does that have to do with Tebow or McCartney's views on him? McCartney is his own man just as his daughter is her own self too. It's not like any of us on these forums are anything close to perfect. Well...Clay is but that's a different story.

No... I am NOT disparaging Sal at all, its not his fault they fell in love and had a child. Stating to Bill "Coach I will not marry her...." Seems to be very mature huh?

IF you could understand the MESSAGE of the "Promise Keepers" sends and how it sends it..... You too would find it IRONIC. As a religious vehicle they tend to support "Abstinence" which as we all is the leading cause of children out of wedlock.

"Live as I say, not as I do". Seems to fit this specific case. AND as such the attempt to hide the fathers name of the child is what I find more disrespectful.

"When McCartney was born in April of 1989 to Kristy McCartney -- the daughter of then coach Bill McCartney -- Westword actually broke the story that Aunese had fathered the boy out of wedlock, and it was quite the scandal. Members of CU's athletic department reportedly even drove all over town confiscating copies of the paper."

Here's ESPN's take on this story. It seems to fit my recollections pretty well.

She gave birth in 94 after McCartney was gone but albeit his last year. Again what difference does it make?

It's difficult to me to ascribe his daughter's actions to him as hypocrisy, but I understand how that happens. We all seem to treat children as extensions of their parents.

Bingo. Not to rain on anyone's parade but Tebow still has a LONG way to go to prove he is da man. But im all for him going out and doing that as i felt he had a great start this past weekend. If he becomes great than its only the best for Bronco nation.

I understand the perception of a double standard and that is definitely warranted and justified. I get that.

The problem is there are so many layers to this story that we aren't privy to that casting our judgment and criticism is not only silly but out of line IMHO seeing how the guy-Bill-who knows something about football likes Tebow.

Unfortunately, Aunese did not. He didn't talk to Kristy after she became pregnant until T.C.'s birth, but today she brushes it off as the immaturity of a 21-year-old. Who knows how he would have reacted if he lived?

"I think he would've done the right thing," she said. "I think he would've been a great dad. I am so far removed from that now. Just the way his family has responded, there's no doubt he would've been the same."

http://www.denverpost.com/colleges/ci_6489926#ixzz18gD886gV

Again there are so many layers. I am done with it. I am not so high and mighty to cast my judgment on the situation or some of the posts that disparage a man who is now dead. Stay classy!

Well, I dont know much about His daughter, and dont rightly care.
Anyway, I was listening to 87.7 when Mcartney called in. He just said his name was Bill and he was out driving around listening to the radio and decided to call in to chime in on Tebow. It took the guy a minute but he finally asked "Is this Bill Mcartney, you sure sound like him?"..They talked about Tebow for quite a while..It was great.
Im sure that Mcartney loves Tebows ministry. But he still is making his evaluations of Tebow based on a coaches perspective.

Right now CJ and Klatt are on 87.7 and CJ is saying Tebow will never be any good. That Klatt guy totally hates Tebow. Saying there is NO WAY Tebow will be a good NFL QB. Then you read dave Kreigers column in the DPost and he says Tebow throws crappy passes and called them "jump balls"...Oh, now they are saying that Matt Flynn of GB is way better than Tebow..Now they are saying Tebow wont be anything but an H-Back...someone needs to call in and tell these guys to quit being Buzz Kills..Jerks...

Cool. someone is calling into CJ and Klatt and ripping them. Telling them to take off their glasses...Klatt is bound and determined to say, over and over :"Tebow will be a decent H-Back and thats it!!!"...Its ridiculous..I mean, these guys are saying he is a total failure as a QB...Saying its a perfect storm for disaster and he is going to fail miserably...Geezo...

I did not hear Coach Mac's live call Saturday, but I did hear the rerun of it today. I wish they would post it on the ticket for all to hear, as he had many great points in regards to Tebow's football ability, he compared his ability to that of Michael Vick's - i.e. - he had many "football" points as to why he feels that Tebow will be a great NFL quarterback.
