We're sure paying Graham a lot to block and drop 4th-down passes.

I think that's a lot for any tight-end but I don't know the numbers. I figure $10m a year on a tight-end would be for someone like Tony Gonzalez.

Boss Bailey might be some dead money next year as well IMHO. Its about time to redo Champs money, and from a business stand point better have a good year.

14.4 mill invested in both our starting corners bailey and bly.

i say keep bailey and toss bly.

all we need to do anyway is keep targeting young guys like jmfw through the draft with our 6th and 7ths rounders in 2010.

I think we should keep Bailey until he retires. If push comes to shove when it comes to fading physical ability I can totally see him playing safety.

Not so much with Bly.

If Graham hadnt been a local boy, having gone to high school here in Denver and College at CSU. I dont think he would be making all that much. He never came close to that kind of Cap hit in New England, and He was a first rounder during a time when they were coming fresh off one of the all time best in Ben Coates. Graham is a solid TE for the most part. But not for that much money.

they are last years contracts...

2007...

and about half those players arent even on the team anymore...

graham example:

he was signed in 2007... and im almost certain that a large portion of that $10.8 mil has to do with signing bonuses and so forth...

i doubt he is earning that much this year...

graham ended up with a five-year, $30 mil deal from the broncos...

that included $15 mil in guarantees...

that means he is only earning 20 million over the remaining 4 years of his deal...

im no rocket surgeon, but im almost certain that he will be averaging about $5 mil over the next 4 years...

same idea goes with dre bly...

and half of those guys are already gone and we arent paying their salary...

We're right where we're supposed to be. Not overpaying. Not underpaying.

The salaries are right where they should be.

The numbers shown are how much they made last year. I have no idea why fox sports is trying to correlate last year with this year. It says right on the header 2007 salaries. We are not paying D.Robertson $6M this year. The Jets paid him that last year.

Or are you trying to say our rookies play for free?

im pretty sure alot of former players are still being counted against the salary this year anyway. maybe even worse since we outright cut guys like henry, gold and walker who had some pretty big salaries.

Not this years. Grahams cap # is 4.1M this year.

Yep. There is dead money counting against the Broncos 2008 salary cap.
However, I find the information you provided supporting such a notion, via fox sports, worthless.

That is all. :coffee:
