Deal is...

Stud wants to win. You may or may not care if we tank or not...
you may or may not be concerend with
Tebow's development and the teams eventual draft position...
Heck...
I certainly am hopeful about the future...

But this guy has a shot here right NOW to try to show Pat...
I AM A WINNER.
It is his shot to audition around the league.

You know damn skippy The HC Stud wants to win.

It may not matter to you or me... but it damn sure matters to Stud.

If Stud has control... and wants to win... in order to establish himself...
why would he spend any time developing Tebow for the new head coach?
Why would he have any concern for the draft position for a new head coach?

__________________________

That begs the question...
was Stud given the job with the understanding that...
"Yeah, this week you go ahead and start Orton...
get us the win...
but after that...
we need to get some butts in the seats at these home games ...
so you WILL be playing Tim Tebow after Arizona."

I wish I could have been a fly on the wall of that hiring meeting...
between Pat and Stud.

If I were in Bowlens position, I would direct him to play Tebow, and try to win.

My franchise, my players, my future, my money.

Play the man.

There are a number of reasons for this.

One, I want to know more about what I have in Tim Tebow.

Two, it doesnt matter whether we win or lose, but I would instruct him to win.

Three, if Tebow doesnt win, but does well..........it will help change the negative vibe of the fans right now.

Tebow looking good would make everyone happy.

Tebow looking bad would mean we have work to do in scouting the draft..............

You and about every other Bronco fan Dave...

But, I'd rather be at the meetings between Pat and John, those are the juicy ones I bet. "This kid can't play", "Remember that time"...come on', Studesville has been set up for a fall, we all pretty much understood that, but it depends on how he gets this team to play that may or may not change minds.

How many people really expect Studesville to be the head coach next season?

I like Studesville, I admire his attitude and he's coached some solid backfields, especially under Fassell and Payton...but I have no illusion that he was put in the position because he made the most sense.

Yeah, but does Stud see things this way?
For Stud... this next four weeks is HUGE.

To us... it is throwaway trash time football.

We want to see it used to develop Tebow.

Question is... does Stud see it the same way as the reast of us?

Is he invested in next season..
or just looking to capitalize on his good fortune right now?

I agree with you and good post.

That said, who knows how much say Stud really has at this point.

So does Stud ...
at his NEXT job interview get credit and Kudos
if he plays Tebow and loses?

Does he say..

"I did what was best for the team..."

and so the next employer admires him for the actions he takes?

Or does he stick with Orton and try to win out?
If he could win 4 games...
that would go a heck of a long way to making his career.

And it would screw our draft position and hinder Tebow's development.

Or we could go 1-3 or worse 0-4 and no one will look at him twice for anything other then as a position coach. If it was me, I'd ride balls out and let Tebow play, the fans demand it and the coach listens? That would go farther in my opinion rather then trying to go undefeated with our December schedule.

This won't happen Warhorse. Thankfully, our owner is Pat Bowlen, not Al Davis.

I'm with WAR on this.
Get the goddam kid in there and lets see what he can do.
Orton played well for us but he doesn't have the spark or potential that this kid does.
Tebow has the heart and drive of a Tyrannosaurus on steroids.
You cannot do what he did in college otherwise.
Take the leash off this kid and let him play.
I truly feel, if given the chance, he is the second coming of #7.
It didn't happen magically for the original #7 and it won't happen magically for #15.
Just get him in there and let him play.
Let him make the magical plays and let him make the mistakes he needs to make to learn.
Kyle, if you want to be the backup, then great.
If you don't, then don't let the door hit you on the way out.
It's time to set this kid free and for a year or two and see what happens.
I think we've got a diamond in the rough.
The next #7...

Bring it on...

Sir,

I do not appreciate your blasphemous language.

You never know until you try...
Everyone out there seems terrified to cut the chain on this kid and let him do his thing.
If they had taken the same tack with Elway, who the *** knows what would have happened.
I'm as sentimental as you on this, turf, but I think this kid can do some amazing things for us. He's got the same drive as #7 did at the same stage in his career..
Let it ride...

Haha, here is a bb gun, go kill those guys carrying the assault rifles.

I get your point and would prefer we go out and play Tebow and lose the rest of the games, but at the same time Orton gives you the best chance to win and that is what they are going to try and do.

You must have missed the game against Kansas City last Sunday, Moreno and the Defense gave Orton a chance to win, but he hit everything else but the receivers!

Like hell it doesnt matter to me. I must say I wont have a tantrum or a do or die moment but I want my team to win! 4 games in a row that includes two with Faiders and Chargers. I want to see if Stud has what it takes to keep him as a HC, I want to see guys playing like they want to be here next year and I especially want Champ to see this team can compete and wants to stick around. There are many positives for winning these games. Draft picks are not guaranteed to be a superstar. I was very happy with us winning the Vikings game in 2007 and not going to the 8th spot but being at the 12th spot. We took Clady there. 4 for 4 and ruin the Chargers season.

I don't think Orton gives Denver the best chance to win... He is converting less than 25% of 3rd downs right now, most NFL QBs are capable of that. Tebow needs to play not only for future considerations but because he can do what Orton can and you can do more with him.

Orton's not getting it done, he's won a whopping 3 games.

PAINTERDAVE

Forget Tebow and the Broncos and Orton...

just look at it genericly.

In any NFL team with these conditions..

out of the playoffs...
good guy mediocre QB who can't seem to win a game...
#1st round pick QB on the bench...
4 games left before a crucial off season...

would you play the rookie and find out what he's got under the hood?

The honest, common sense answer is YES.

Arizona just whooped our asses, we've tanked. I don't see us winning anymore games...we couldn't beat a UFL team right now.

I must need new glasses, because I sure can't see how playing Orton gives them the best chance to win. Is it his stellar play under do or die situations? Maybe because he has that crazy knack for converting third downs? The ability to direct long, clock eating drives?

Oh, now I'm beginning to see. I must have slipped over into bizarro world!
