HIGHLANDS RANCH — The role reversal in the McCaffrey household was quicker than expected.
Only seven seasons after productive and popular Broncos receiver Ed McCaffrey called it quits, a new breed of McCaffreys will play on the same turf on which Ed spent his final three seasons as a pro. It will happen Saturday at 11 am., when Max and Christian McCaffrey suit up for Valor Christian against Wheat Ridge in the Class 4A state championship game at Invesco Field at Mile High.
"It's really exciting," Ed McCaffrey said. "I retired in 2003, I blinked, and now it's 2010. To me, it seems like just yesterday I was playing. But my boys are 14 and 16, so it's about half their lifetime."
