Notables:

Royal is now a clear cut starter as the #2.
Martinez is a backup WR to BMarsh. He has been doing better than Colbert so I think he has earned it.

Hillis is #2 and I think nipping at the hills of Sapp to become the #1. This guy is impressive to say the least. I think he will end up being the starter real soon.

Sheffler still #3??? I mean I like Nate Jackson and all but I think Sheff is the better player and we need this guy on the field.

Manuel passed Abdullah and is now the starter.

Moss is now #2 as well.

Pretty much what I expect to see.

Pittman is toast. No way he makes the team.

What's the deal with Josh Barrett? Will he even make the practice squad?

It pains me to see Crowder running with the 3's. Someone should have been able to beat out John Engleberger at this point.

i wasn't happy about that either. . . chef is a major talent. . . he was highly productive when he was in there last year-- he runs well enough to attack the seam, he's tremendously athletic and very dangerous in the red zone. . . the guy is right on the verge of busting out bigtime-- i hate seeing him lose reps to nate freakin' jackson. . . not that he hasn't shown some flashes, but the guy is ALWAYS hurt. . . where's the long term potential for a player who has never been able to stay on the field? let chef get out there. . .

my thoughts exactly! if crowder or ekuban cant beat out engelberger then what does that say about them? crowder looked really good last year but if ekuban is 100% healthy i expect him to win the job. so far they both have been really quiet.

What's up with Stokely being so far down the chart?

Coming into camp, I would have agreed 100% with you... But Nate has been damn impressive thus far, and when was the last time you remember him dropping a ball? I'd say it's a good problem to have right now with Graham nursing a hammy and Nate playing through a shoulder seperation.

I think we'll see all 3 of them get plenty of time.

What's up with Stokely being so far down the chart?

i think it just reflects the fact that jackson will be the second starter while marshall serves his suspension. . . shanahan loves stokley, i have no concerns that he won't get plenty of chances working out of the slot. . .

not sure. i guess its primarily because he is a slot wr??? i think they are trying to gear martinez, royal and jackson to handle #1 and #2 wr duties for the first 2 games that marshal is out. i would prefer stokely to only play the slot so he stays healthy through the whole year. if he starts taking snaps as the #2 then he would have a higher risk at injury. i think shanahan said he over used him last year.

i hope woodyard makes the team.

larsen too. maybe practice squad is larsens fate this year? hmmm if pittman gets cut he will be the #3 fb AND #3 mlb along with a good special teams player. seems pretty valuable to me...

WTF???? Schef 3rd? Maybe he is just flat out horrible at blocking. That is the only way I see it.
Crowder 3rd string? Ouch, I had so much hope for him.

Yeah, Sheffler is a very accomplished receiving TE, but have you watched himn block? He needs lots of work in this area. His rookie and second year I could somewhat understand. He came from a small school that must not have expected him to block much but this is his third season as a Bronco. Personally, I am a little disappointed with his lack of progress in that area.

If you can't block you aren't going to play much for the Broncos. Even Sharpe learned to position block effectively and there aren't many receiving TEs better than Shannon.

yea, i know-- good point. . . why ya gotta rain on my parade, dean?

it IS disappointing to see a 2nd round pick with such potential moving towards being pigeonholed as a specialist who only comes in for obvious passsing downs. . . is it safe to guess that it's just lack of effort, or do you think it's more of a strength issue? i've always thought that blocking was mostly about attitude and want-to (he should certainly have learned solid technique at this point), and he doesn't lack size. . . .

Licktenstockenbergerson is not even the 3rd center...weird.

Torain is listed in front of Alridge?

Jackson in front of Stockley?

Those last two things don't make any sense.

The Brandon Stokley spot on the depth chart makes sense. Shanahan said he overused Stokley last year, so he purposely went out and got some receiver depth (Jackson, Royal) so that he'd be 2 deep at the X and the Z. He's also on record saying he thinks Brandon is the best slot receiver in the NFL, so it's not as though he's been demoted.

Isn't Shef sidelined right now with the foot injury or something? Perhaps he is just down as #3 right now because he can't currently play.

Yeah, either that or the new guy is out chasing tail and didn't update the website. Mason would never let something like that happen.
