The Broncos would have better luck stopping the run if they could run themselves!

What happens when the defense is on the field way too much and the offense can't sustain a drive?
How did the offense score? Well they aired it out taking little time off the clock and put the defense back on the field to time manage.

Lets focus on where the problem is.... When the score becomes unmanageable, it forces the D in a prevent mode.... They can't take that risk because that can't afford to get burned... This in turn loosens up the run defense.

Establish an offense that can manage the clock (eh hem, running game) and put points on the board, then and only then do you see what the Defense has to offer.

I hate this Defense scapegoat Bullshit

...also throughout the preseason. So, it's a dumb boast from Martindale that his team hasn't backed up.

The only place the offense managed time is in penalties against them, face time for the officials as they moved the ball backwards.

He said it during a practice on a goal line stand. Give me a freaking break.

In Martindale's defense, I'm sure he didn't mean it.

At band camp.

At band camp.

I remember that day. The clarinet section opened massive holes against the Denver d-line and the tuba players showed more explosiveness than the Broncos' RBs.

The defense was doing fine until the offense kept producing drives that took < a minute off the game clock. You just can't expect the defense to play 2/3-3/4 of the game and not give up points.

If our offense would either: a) score early and give the defense a lead to defend
or b) at least sustain some drives for longer than 4 plays and 1:30 off the clock, the defense would play better.
