One Charger malcontent down, one to go.
San Diego offensive left tackle Marcus McNeill ended his contract holdout Saturday, signing his one-year, $630,000, restricted free-agent tender and reporting to the team, according to multiple news services.
As a holdout, McNeill was placed on the team's "Did Not Report" list for training camp, allowing the Chargers to receive a roster exemption for his spot. As such, he will not be eligible to play until Week 7 when San Diego plays host to New England.
McNeil and wide receiver Vincent Jackson, both Pro Bowlers, had boycotted all things Chargers since receiving their RFA tenders in February and had their one-year offers reduced after a deadline to sign passed in June. McNeill had held out, hoping to land a long-term contract extension, while Jackson's agent has been shopping for potential trade partners.

SD pulled their $3.2 million or so tender offer and reduced it to 10% more than his previous year's salary, as they had the option to do. Once he took it that far in terms of the holdout, I am amazed that he signed now rather than holding out least until week 10, if not all year.
If he wasn't willing to go all the way, he should have signed the $3+ million tender before it was reduced months ago.

i thought him and jackson had some kind of pact... us against them thing goin' ?
guess his checkbook decided to cave:laugh:
we'll see how long jackson & his agent want to hold out at 500K instead of the 3 mil he would be getting for going to work:confused:

Problem is that I believe Jackson'st tender was also lowered to the $600-700k range. He gets zero for holding out. Will get $500k or so if he signs the tender. Could have had $3.2 or so if he had signed the tender back in the summer, before SD lowered it.

McNeil signed the $660 mentioned in the article, but that will be prorated down to about $450k or so, because of the games he has or will miss.
Jackson had his Tender reduced from $3.2+ million to $583k, when he didn't sign by mid June, when the CBA allows teams to reduce tender offers on RFA's that haven't signed.
If Jackson was to sign today, he would probably get 11/16ths of tat $583k salary (the games he would play in).

That makes no sense on his part.
