I'm having the processor in the server upgraded tonight. Practically speaking, you might not notice any difference, but I decided to do it so we have more headroom.

The server chugged along like a champ on the night Tebow was drafted and we topped 1200 users online with the cpu (4 cores) typically staying in the 50-60% range -- meaning there was still some head room. However, I like to have a lot of headroom, so when Tebow (or Orton) takes us back to the Superbowl, we'll be good to go.

For techies out there, the speed increases are roughly:

25% clock speed (Ghz)
50% more L2 cache
33% faster FSB

I've requested the swap the processor between 2 am and 6 am Eastern time, and if everything goes well it will be down for 30 minutes or less.

By the way, I'm running a benchmark on the server right now, so I can compare it to results after the processor upgrade, so things might be sluggish for the next 5 minutes or so.

In case you missed it. I have confirmed that the upgrade should take place right around 2:00 AM Eastern, so if things go well, it should be back online by 2:30 or so.

Well, that was painless. They had it down and back up in about 15 minutes or less.
