7-9 as we speak before TC and we get a chance to see any talent on any of the teams. May play to 9-7 or 10-6 if all the moons line up just right and NO injuries..

lets do this again before the last preseason game.. that time for real..

OAK - very weak run defense, suspect QB
NO - inconsistent RB play
KC - weak OL, suspect QB
MIA - practically an expansion team
CLE - suspect defense
ATL - suspect QB, coaching overhaul, untested RB
NYJ - suspect QBs, inconsistent RB play
CAR - inconsistent RB play

From the above teams, we're favoured to win OAK(2x), KC(2x), MIA, ATL, NYJ, and we can compete with NO, CLE, & CAR.

The only really balanced teams on our schedule are NE, SD(2x), JAC, TB, & BUF, and we will be very competitive with BUF, TB, & JAC.

10-6 or 11-5 sounds about right.

For the pre-training camp prediction, I will go with 10-6. I don't remember going into a season with no real idea of what to expect from the Broncos. I can see them anywhere from 7-9 to 11-5.

Tned

The NFL changes so much year to year. I think the Broncos will be much improved, especially on defense, and what Clady can do at LT could have a domino effect on the rest of the line. Is Robertson (sp??) and the young guys ready to produce (marcus thomas, moss) on the line. So, lots of questions.

On the flip side, what type of team will Oak be? Still horrible, or have they turned a corner? How will KC play with nearly 2/3 of their roster new players.

What about ATL and TB. Will TB have Favre at QB?

So, looking at the schedule based on how teams played last year, and considering the improvements I 'expect' to see with the Broncos in '08, I would say:

Worst case is 10-6 (losses to NE, SD, SD, Jax, and two of TB/NO/Car/Buf)

Best case is 13-3 (losses to NE, SD and Jax/TB/NO/Car/Buf)

I think the Broncos will land somewhere in between my best and worse case and I think they will have 11 or 12 wins, based on what appears to be an improved team (I expect the run defense to be much improved, them to give up FAR less than 26.5 points a game, and Cutler to play better than last year) and a fairly easy schedule.

1 Sep 08 DEN @ OAK; Jamarcus Russel is basically a rookie and WAY too geeked up for his first home opener. At least (2) interceptions as he is playing from behind all day due to a quick start by Cutler and the boys. WIN

2 Sep 14 SD @ DEN; Cutler and the rest of the team have not forgotten your antics during the last game little Phillip Rivers. I predict a big win here. WIN

3 Sep 21 NO @ DEN; I'm not as sold on this team as most seem to be. I think this is a fairly easy win. WIN

4 Sep 28 DEN @ KC; Well, it's not in December so I think Denver wins a close one. Even though KC is going to struggle this year, we always have tight games. WIN

5 Oct 05 TB @ DEN; This is a tough one but home advantage prevails. WIN

6 Oct 12 JAC @ DEN; 1st loss of the season; All of our undefeated predictions go out the window and we realize we may not be quite as good as we thought. LOSS

7 Oct 20 DEN @ NE; Stinging from the loss to the jag-offs, Bailey picks Brady twice and returns one for a touchdown. We win by 3. WIN

8 Bye; We do not lose this weekend.

9 Nov 02 MIA @ DEN; Easy win fresh off th bye. WIN

10 Nov 06 DEN @ CLE; We beat Miami so bad the previous week that the players don't think they need to practice for this game. One of our "lay a big fat egg" games that we always seem to have. LOSS

11 Nov 16 DEN @ ATL; Fairly easy win; Rookie quarterback for Atlanta struggling. WIN

12 Nov 23 OAK @ DEN; Al Davis has a stroke up in the owner's box. Before he passes, he fires Kiffin. WIN

13 Nov 30 DEN @ NYJ; D Rob wants to prove the Jets made a mistake and plays like a monster. WIN

14 Dec 07 KC @ DEN; Not much to say about this game. KC is having a tough year. WIN

15 Dec 14 DEN @ CAR; Steve Smith burns Bly in the 4th quarter. Everyone is calling for Bly's head and how much he sucks. (Which I don't believe, by the way) LOSS

16 Dec 21 BUF @ DEN; Buffalo is fighting for a wild card spot and plays tough. However, they fall short and Prater kicks a game winner. WIN

17 DEN @ SD; This one is for the division title. Denver loses but both teams end up at 12-4; Denver wins the tie-breakers for the divison title. LOSS

So, looks like 12-4. If we have 3 or more season ending injuries to starters then it can go down hill pretty quick.

Sad that so many fans pick us to lose both against SD :tsk: :tsk:

Predictions are like ******** - everyones got them and they all stink :D

My stinky one is 9-7 - i can see us losing to a team or two that we shouldnt and like Tned said - everything changes so much in one year now - its next to near impossible to say that a team that totally sucked last year wont come out of the gates with their guns a'blazin and take us by surprise cause i think we are still pretty young as a team and we have not completely gelled yet

We will always dump a game or two just because we are not prepared.. IMO..

As far as SAN goes they took us apart last year and in the second game IIRC without LT and Gates.. Or if they played they were both hurting..

They are loaded with front line talent as they have been drafting well for 6-7 straight years.. In most cases in the lower part of the draft..

The only reason they did not dominate us earlier was coaching.. now that marty is gone and while I'm not a big fan of Norv he has a deep talent pool especially on DL and LB.. We rarely play well against a 3-4 team anyway.

Unless they have major injuries rack up two losses this year..

Yeah i swear people acting like the Chargers are the dream team or something. Very scared of them....I understand they won the last 4 but they were just better than us and i can openly admit that. However its a brand new environment in Denver and we have talent all over the place. If it all pans out i dont see why we wont be a great team.

I agree with silk...I'll say 8-8. We need to show we can compete with the Chargers, or at least put some points on the board. I'd rather guess a lower win total than get my hopes up too high.

I still believe we're riding on potential. A "boom or bust" kind of ordeal we have witnessed time and time again. The kind of season where 8-8 would be a disappointment, and yet 4-12 would be the result of too much youth or 12-4 would be the big 'breakout'.

I do think we should keep in mind that no matter how Denver plays, we have a nasty habit of lowering our standard of play against weaker teams; and, to the contrary, we usually bring our A-game to the fields of the league's 'elites'.

I think we can beat them, but we just aren't favored to.

As bad as the Chiefs were, they did beat the Chargers, so we can too. Our rush defense will be much improved, as will our OL and RB play. We'll do fine.

1 Sep 08 DEN @ OAK L (while 9-4 overall, Shanny is only 2-3 on the road on opening day and 0-1 on MNF)

2 Sep 14 SD @ DEN W (Jay gets some payback against Phillip "Cry Me A Rivers")

3 Sep 21 NO @ DEN W (NFC teams don't do well against Shanny at home)

4 Sep 28 DEN @ KC W (The Chefs will be lucky to win 6 games this year. This isn't one of them)

5 Oct 05 TB @ DEN W (If Griese is QB, Broncos will set a sack record - If Favre is the QB this changes to a loss)

6 Oct 12 JAC @ DEN L (Jags running game will kill us)

7 Oct 20 DEN @ NE W (Shanny continues his dominance of Beli-CHEAT)

12 Nov 23 OAK @ DEN W (rematch brings a win)

13 Nov 30 DEN @ NYJ L (Another East coast 11:00 start - Shanny just doesn't do well with this scenario)

14 Dec 07 KC @ DEN W (Broncos get the sweep)

15 Dec 14 DEN @ CAR L (Second East coast 11:00 start in three weeks - Fatique will cost us another one)

16 Dec 21 BUF @ DEN W (Buffalo is another team Shanny just seems to find a way to beat)

I see it as 11-5

A lot of what happens this year will hinge on whether or not we can punch it into the endzone, field position on special teams and 3rd down defense. We've proven we can move the ball between the 20's, now we will have to see if we can settle for more TD's rather than FG's.

Especially considering the fact we can't count on the new kicker to be able to rush the field and kick last minute field goals. Much better to have the kid kicking extra points.
