I don't imagine his actual sentence will be any worse than anybody else convicted of DUI. He'll pay a fine and be on probation or something with a suspended license for a while, but he won't spend any time in jail.

At least, if it's that old, and Paymah hasn't had any issues since then, maybe
that will be taken into consideration, and he won't get any jail time. But now
he probably has the league to deal with.

At any rate, I hope Jack Williams is getting into shape . . .

DUI falls under the substance abuse policies....

In the substance-abuse policy, it states: "The commissioner will review and may impose a fine, suspension, or other appropriate discipline if a player is convicted of or admits to a violation of the law . . . relating to the use of alcohol."

First offenses aren't subject to suspensions, but subsequent violations are subject to suspension and higher fines.

As long as this isn't tied to something else, he won't be suspended. He will be enrolled in the league's substance abuse program. He will have to stay clean with DUIs in the future, otherwise he could be suspended (and more than likely would be).

Looks to me he is a guy that screwed up, and his kept his nose clean since. Tough to judge that, you know. I doubt there are few of us on this board that could not have been busted for DUI at some point in our lives.

He got a wakeup call and he woke up.

It didn't seem to me that Timmy was referring to Paymah as a liability. It
seems more that he was saying that Paymah's faux pas is not as much of a
liability as is the aggregate of Marshall's.

Agreed, thats why I don't want to burn people, lol, after one violation (depeands on the violation). DUI is a bad thing, we have been over this in many threads before and being it was 2 years ago you have to think he learned. But at the same time how many times does this have to happen? Players have plenty of examples of what not to do but continue to do them. Terrance Kiel should be a big wake up call to all players after parties, save your high priced rides for when you are not drinking. Nothing worng with being a passenger.

It is not like they are not sent to rookie camp to learn about this stuff.

It is not like someone can say "golly gee I did not know it was against the law to drink and drive.."

For Gods Sake EVERY beer commercial has a be responsible when you drink in the ad..

I can't think of how many times I've seen on TV or billboards friends do not let friends drive drunk..

People, some people...........

To be honest, it's just representative of society, from which these players are drawn.

Most people go about their lives, and never appear on the law's radar, as do most athletes. Unfortunately some people drink & drive, some do drugs, some beat their partners and so forth.................IMO it's pretty unrealistic to expect these percentages not to be repeated in professional sports.

The smart ones learn, which judging by Paymah not having been in trouble since, he is, the others..............................

I like Paymah and I believe his ability to become a starter or at least a force on defense. THat being said, it is harder to convince anyone that we are no different than what we used to think of the Raiders or , in recent years, the Bengals. The worst is that these stories get rehashed when the conviction comes in. Time for some more great stories on guys like Lynch and Bailey. Anything with a positive spin will help us fans know that we arent rooting on a bunch of thugs, hulligans or just plain morons.

At the end of the day though, players are just folk, as fallible as the rest of us.............

At the moment, I'd say Paymah doesn't qualify for the others, he made a mistake two years ago, but nobody seems to have heard of anything since, so he's learnt
