Jarvis Moss
This much was clear by the conclusion of Wednesday's two-hour practice: Jarvis Moss' legs are just fine.

The outside linebacker returned to practice Wednesday afternoon, 12 days after breaking a bone in his left hand. Moss wore a cast that covered his hand and wrist, and the injury did not appear to limit him in the practice.

When the session was over, Moss broke into a full sprint off the field and into the locker room before speaking with reporters.

Moss' return was a welcome addition to the linebacking corps that lost Elvis Dumervil. Moss worked with the second-team base defense early in practice but was in the first-team nickel defense during the two-minute drill to close practice. Moss got into the backfield at least once during the drill and would have sacked quarterback Kyle Orton, had that sort of contact been allowed in practice.
Having Moss on the field on passing downs allowed the team to move Mario Haggan back to inside linebacker.

Decker returns.

Rookie wide receiver Eric Decker practiced for the first time since injuring his left ankle Aug. 7 in a practice at Invesco Field.

Decker needs all the practice time in August he can get after missing all of the spring practices because of a foot injury.

"It was good to have him back," quarterback Brady Quinn said.

Big guys, big catches.

The rest of the team owes Russ Hochstein and Justin Bannan big time after the two veterans came through with clutch plays at the end of practice.

The defense and the offense were each allowed to pick a player from the opposing side of the ball to get one shot to cleanly catch a punt. The reward? No curfew at the team hotel.

Hochstein, a guard, went first and easily cradled the ball to his chest, much to the delight of his offensive teammates.

Not to be outdone, Bannan, a defensive end, needed only his hands to catch his punt. He then did some impressive juggling moves with the ball before punting it to the other end of the field.
"I went back to my high school days as a tight end," Bannan said. "I can catch a little bit."

Players were allowed to spend the night at their own homes.

"We needed that," Bannan said.

Footnotes.

Chris Kuper, who returned Tuesday from an ankle injury, left practice early. He spoke to trainers before walking slowly to the locker room under his own power. . . . Eleven players were held out of practice with various injuries, including veterans Champ Bailey, Daniel Graham, Brandon Stokley and Le Kevin Smith. . . . The team announced it waived Dustin Fry. He missed much of training camp with a leg injury and was third string on the depth chart at center.
