i thought i should start a new thread for this year's league to make it less confusing. . .

this is the forum's official fantasy league, and is open to all members. . . we'll break the league ito smaller conferences that actually function as independent leagues (each conference will have it's own draft, pool of players, etc), and the overall league champion will be the conference winner that scores the most points in the championship game in week sixteen. . . everyone is welcome to play as long as we have even numbers to make the conferences. . . i'm going to make july 15th the registration deadline, so if you want in sign up now! as of now we have 21 people signed up to play, so the next three are guaranteed entrance (that would give us two conferences with twelve owners in each)-- after that, it'll depend on how many more we get, and whether it's a number that can be divided evenly (for example, thirty participants would make three conferences of ten each). . . sooo, if you want in, now's the time to speak up. . .

the list will be updated as necessary. . . . reidman has volunteered to act as commissioner of our second conference. . . once we've got a final list, i'll draw names from a hat to determine who'll be in which conference, and then we'll send out invites and get everything set up. . . i'm going on vacation towards the end of the month, and will try to have everything ready to go before then. . . since each conference is haing it's own draft, i won't be able to give you draft dates until we know who's in which group. . . each conference will follow the exact same rules, which will be as follows:


this is a standard head-to-head style league-- when i know the size of each league, i'll let you know how many teams will make the playoffs. . . week 16 will be the championship. . . we'll do a live, online draft-- 18 rounds, snaking each round. . . we'll be using fleaflicker. . .

return yardage goes along with team defense-- so for example, whoever has chicago's defense gets six points if hester returns one for a TD. . . .

Not sure but I think fleaflicker randomly selects draft order, then it goes from
first to last and then last back to first and alternates like that...

Once you get the invite and sign up you can look at all the rules and stuff...

oh yea! this is a bit different from the standard deep league because the player pool is split in two-- even though you're competing against 24 people for the championship, you're only sharing players with 12, so it doesn't get as thin as, say, my league of legends where you're sharing players with 16-- but yes, it should definitely be a blast. . . whoever comes out on top will have earned it, that's for sure. . .

If I don't get the 1st pick, I actually like the last pick in the draft. The one spot I don't like is the middle, and that's exactly where I am. :D Yup, average RB's, average WRs. But that's okay, I have some super sleeper picks. :cool:

The only points I left on the bench was Chris Johnson ... about 18 points. I knew he was going to be good, and I knew he was going to get a big part of the carries, but I didn't think he'd do so well against the Jaguar's tough defense. I tried to man certain owner's rosters this past weekend in an attempt to make it somewhat fair for the rest of us to not give automatic wins to those playing these teams. However, it proved to be time consuming and probably not very affective given there are many injured players which would require me to actually add and drop players, something I don't feel I should have to do or will do for that matter.

So as of now, two owners have been kicked and their entire rosters benched which will serve as a "virtual" bye week for anybody playing them. If anyone has better suggestion/solution to this, please respond.

Also, if people want to jump in and take over these teams, let me know. However, the expectation is you'll play to the end (keep in mind both teams are 0-4). Honestly, this is why I'm almost tempted to not play in any more leagues unless there is money on the line, that seems to keep people playing.

people shouldn't sign up if they aren't interested in playing! i know that everyone has more important things to deal with, but it's not like it takes more than 2-3 minutes a week to set your lineup. . . if you don't, you're making the league less competitive and less fun for everyone else that's playing. . .

FTR, i expect everyone who signed up for this league to be active and at least try to be competitive. . . it doesn't matter if you've had injuries or didn't draft a good team! i'm not accepting those as excuses. . . even if you have a bad record and don't think you can make the playoffs, you owe it to the rest of the people in the league to take a few minutes each week and set your lineup so that your opponent doesn't get a free win-- that ruins the competitive balance of the league. . . when you have three guys in your starting lineup that are hurt or on bye weeks, you're obviously not trying. . .

i don't want to be a dick about it, but anyone who abandons their team, even if it's out of the playoff hunt, isn't going to be welcome back to this or any of my leagues in the future. . .

I understand about keeping the competitive balance but it's unnecessary to keep a team going when you have your own to worry about and it takes away from the original owners strategy and capability...I would rather keep both teams benched than have someone feel forced into updating and playing their roster. IMO, after 4 weeks of not playing, they've already altered the balance of the league somewhat.

IDK, lets see if someone else is willing to take over the other team. I already PM'ed thnik the info to sign up.

LMAO...I got lucky as hell.

I'd like to see anyone find a computer with internet access during the road trip I went on. Impossible. I like this league a lot. Live scoring kicks ass. I hate that I missed a couple week-ends.

I think everyone in our conference is manning their teams. It sucks that Reid is having to deal with this. Hopefully someone else will step up like Thnnk did.

people shouldn't sign up if they aren't interested in playing! i know that everyone has more important things to deal with, but it's not like it takes more than 2-3 minutes a week to set your lineup. . . if you don't, you're making the league less competitive and less fun for everyone else that's playing. . .

FTR, i expect everyone who signed up for this league to be active and at least try to be competitive. . . it doesn't matter if you've had injuries or didn't draft a good team! i'm not accepting those as excuses. . . even if you have a bad record and don't think you can make the playoffs, you owe it to the rest of the people in the league to take a few minutes each week and set your lineup so that your opponent doesn't get a free win-- that ruins the competitive balance of the league. . . when you have three guys in your starting lineup that are hurt or on bye weeks, you're obviously not trying. . .

i don't want to be a dick about it, but anyone who abandons their team, even if it's out of the playoff hunt, isn't going to be welcome back to this or any of my leagues in the future. . .

thnikk, that would be very cool if you'd take one of those. . . if somebody else wants to take over the other, that would be awesome. . . if not, i suppose i'll have to do it, which freakin' sucks-- i'm spending enough of my time running three leagues and managing a bunch of other teams, the last thing i need to spend time on is running somebody else's team that they signed up for and then couldn't be bothered with. . . . :tsk:

I've been playing in this one league for six years, and I was third last year...I'm 0-5 this year. Get this...I have faced Michael Turner in week 1, Brandon Marshall in week 2, Houshammama, Cutler AND Marshawn Lynch in week 3, Steven Jackson in week 4 AND NOW DeAngelo Williams in week 5. It's starting to get freakin' ridiculous!

Got lucky. I fully expected Eli to make up the difference, but he sucked hind tit. I got extremely lucky with Ward...all those garbage yards late in the second half.
