It's back!! The Hacks Online Football Pool will return for the 9th season and hopefully be as successful as the previous years. If you are interested in playing again this year, please let me know. This is the first year at this site, so anyone not familiar but would like to play I'll post a little information about it. Most of the ex Freaks are familiar with it and several joined last year.

The pool is 36 dollars for the entire year and pays out all 17 weeks. The pool is X2 upon the amount of players we have. We had around 60 people last year and paid out $120.00 a week. The site is automated and you can follow your picks and everybody else's during the games. The site is updated every two minutes and keeps a running standing where you and everybody else is with your picks as the games are progressing. The tie breaker is total points on the Monday night game.

If you are interested, I will send you an invite and you can mail or PayPal me the entry fees. I'll set a deadline and expect all entry fines by the date or I will have to delete you off the site if you can't meet the deadline.

Again, several people from the (ex) Freak play as well as people from my work. It's fun and a good way to have some fun during the season. I mail the winnings out every Tuesday morning if you live out of town and win.

Anyway, not going to beg anybody to play, just asking again if you are interested to PM me and let me know.

Woohoo! I'm back in again. Might get the wife to play this year too (she would have won a week last year).

Send me any information I'll need, unless everything relevant can be found on the pool's homepage, then I can just read that.

Still on Sportsline, right?

Everybody here needs to be in on this. It is more fun (to me) than any fantasy league, and the more the merrier.

Kevin does all the leg-work, all you've got to do is send him $36 either through pay-pal or send him a check (but hurry!).

Basically, the $36 breaks down like this. $2 for each week of the regular season (17 weeks), plus $2 for an end of the season award.

If there are 30 people involved then that means there will be a $60 weekly award for who picks the most games right. No spread, just a straight-up pick-em.

The more people that join, the bigger the pot is for each week. At the end of the season, the person with the most correct picks also gets an award, plus bragging rights.

PM Kevin if you have any other questions or want to send him money. If you win, he sends the check out on Monday, and you'll have it before the next weekend.

Right now I have 37 people paid with a few more committed. Still trying for at least 50 this year. Here's a quick recap of the pool if you are not familiar with it. Don't miss out, it's worth 36 dollars for a chance to win 100.00 dollars for 17 weeks, plus bragging rights for a a week if you win.

t's back!!

The site is updated every two minutes and keeps a running weekly standing where you and everybody else is with your picks as the games/week progress.

I think my team name was slick's donkey's.

Time has come. Thanks to the ones that committed and signed up!. Will keep a running standing like I did last year with the people from here and have a little fun with it again. CSWIL, Beef, and MB, not sure why you didn't get in, going to be another fun year. Almost up to 50 now. Hopefully we can make it there by Thursday at 6:00 pm.

If Arizona and Green Bay win, you've got it locked up looks like.

I hope you're wrong on Arizona/SF, and then I'll be in the running, tied with a few others.

Thanks, but I think that even if GB wins I could still tie if OAK wins (which would suck). So if both MIN and OAK win, then I am out of luck.

Yes, that appears so now that Indy is lagging. . .I was counting on Indy winning this game tonight. . .

What do I know, huh? Chargers and Indy both lose home openers? That would be big news wouldn't it?

Niner, 2 things:

1) I received the check, thanks!

2) Was something wrong with the Hacks pool last night? I triple-checked my picks and submitted them 3 times to make sure....and I still have SD beating DEN and DAL beating PHI even though I switched those. It also told me that nobody else had submitted their picks as of 10 PM last night, another reason why I wondered if something was wrong.

Is there any way you can administratively change those since it is before the games start?

So I've always wondered this, and I will ask it now because it has a chance to happen to me.

If Washington wins tonight, there will be 4 of us with 11. The tiebreakers are at 39, 42, 44, and 44.

So if 44+ points are scored, is the money split evenly between the two 44s?

What if 43 points are scored? Is it split 3 ways? Given to the 42 guy?

Niner, I'm an idiot. I forgot to get picks in for this week. I hope there is some way for you to edit my picks in, since you can see from the time stamp on this post the games haven't started yet.

I'd like to pick:
NE
NYG
GB
CAR
DEN
IND
TB
KC
MIA
PHI
TEN
ARI
STL
PIT
WAS
BUF Tiebreaker 41pts

If not, that's cool.

Thanks a million.

DAMNIT!!!!!!! I totally forgot to get my picks in with my new job starting this week. Hey 9er, if you have mercy, here are my pics minus the Chargers-Raiders game. Obviously I'd be more than willing to take that game as a loss and understand if its too late for any of these to count, but for what it's worth seeing as I'm tied for 2nd on the season:

CHI
TEN
MIN
IND
ATL
NYG
HOU
MIA
NE
DEN
NYJ
ARI

For those who needed it, proof that I cheat in every NFL-related pick 'em or fantasy sport.

At the beginning of the season, Pro-Football-Reference.com ran a contest (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/blog/?p=589). I entered the contest with the following entry: link to entry (http://www.pro-football-reference.com/blog/?p=589#comment-95826).

As of today (the first time he has posted standings), I am the projected winner. Woo!

When he refers to 'JT', just pretend he is saying studbucket.

On another note, I lost 3 games to Carl Huffman, all but ending my chances at finishing first overall. It looks like it's #2 overall for the 2nd straight year.

Does 9798 come on here anymore?

Know if he's running this again?

Every once in a while he does. He's not posting much at all anywhere that I know of. I imagine he'll be back to put this on again closer to the season.

I certainly want to be a part of it again.

NightTrainLayne
08-17-2009, 04:07 PM
Hey guys. I am probably going to be starting a pool similar to what 9798 did.

The only difference will be that I willl probably be running this as a fund-raiser for my local Rotary club.

That will mean that there will be hopefully a bunch more participants, but that means that the prize will probably be larger for the same $36 entry fee, and some of those participants will either forget about it halfway through the season and/or not be real great at picking teams anyways.

Anyone interested?

OK, I've got it set up.

If you want to participate, send me a PM with the e-mail address where you want the invite sent to.

Entry fee is the same as last year. $36.

We are shooting for a minimum award of $100/week with a $200 end of season award.

Depending on how many we get, we may add a 2nd and 3rd place prize, instead of just increasing the first-place award. The more people you get in the more tie-breakers have to be used to declare a winner each week, and I feel like a close 2nd or 3rd place person deserves some recognition as well as some $$.

This is open to anybody, so feel free to sign up! Send me your e-mail where you want to the invite to go to, and I will send instructions on where to send the $36.

NightTrainLayne
08-25-2009, 11:33 AM
Send me your e-mails in PM guys and gals, and I will send you the invites.

Everyone is welcome. Chance to win $100 every week, plus $200 end of season, assuming we get enough folks to sign up (which I'm sure we will).

So my wife lost on the tiebreaker this week. Great job by her!

She says she was in a hurry and didn't put any thought into the tiebreaker (after spending 10-15 minutes on her picks). Our loss I guess. :)

NTL, you're tied with me for 2nd with 66, I don't think I can stand for that ;)

I saw that. Congrats to her for coming so close.

I thought I was picking too high for the tie-breaker at 44. .. Who woulda thought that they'd combine for 57?

I'm on a mission to catch that guy in 1st place. Only two games back.

I'm going to run our league again this season.

Again, the entry fee is essentially $2 per week. $36 to join. Weekly prize for the member who picks the games correctly, no spread.

Let me know if you want to join. You can pay-pal me the $$, or mail a check.

I'll send an invite e-mail to anyone interested.
