Ryan McBean playing ahead of Jarvis Green

By Mike Klis (http://blogs.denverpost.com/broncos/author/mike-klis/)

After the Broncos threw all that money at the defensive line this spring, it figured the remaining defensive line from last year would move to the bench.

Not so. Ronnie Fields (http://blogs.denverpost.com/broncos/tag/ronnie-fields/) is playing with the first-string base defense until Jamal Williams returns from injury, and for now, Ryan McBean (http://blogs.denverpost.com/broncos/tag/ryan-mcbean/) has playing ahead of Jarvis Green (http://blogs.denverpost.com/broncos/tag/jarvis-green/), the former New England Patriot who signed a four-year, $20 million contract, for performance reasons.
“”I’m here to work,” McBean said. “”If you’re thinking too much then you’re doing the wrong thing. It’s my job to worry about how much money other players make. My job is to work.”

As much as the d-line rotates it really doesn't matter too much who starts, especially at this point.

Ryan McBean was our best D-Linemen against the run last year. No one should be surprised that he is getting reps with the first team. Depth chart at this point in training camp means absolutely nothing come game 1 as well.

DJ Williams did not like green eggs and ham, he did not like them SAM he was. (Strongside LB for a year I think)

yep. . . mcbean's stouter against the run than green, who has proven in the past that he's probably best in a rotational role. . . given that he's been an effective rotational pass rusher from the five-technique in the past, it makes sense to play the better run defender in your base defense and keep green fresh. . . nothing surprising here. . .

We have a winner! What's sad is that Klis doesn't know this. :tsk:

Would you eat them
in a box?
Would you eat them
with a fox?

Not in a box.
Not with a fox.
Not in a house.
Not with a mouse.
I would not eat them
here or there.
I would not eat them anywhere.
I would not eat green eggs and ham.
I do not like them, Sam-I-am.

I'm not sure he does not "know it".

Because he did not openly state it means Nada.

Klis is one of the better writers @ the DP. With a great perspective on the TEAM.

Green was not assured the starting role, and McBean is a young stud.

Green in the rotation will spell the kid and make us stronger.

Green is a team player, and a good pickup even if he ends up being a backup.

More a testimony to the growth of McBean than the ability of Green imo.:coffee:
