With their top two running backs, Knowshon Moreno and Correll Buckhalter, out a while with injuries, the Broncos need to call on their depth chart. The tailback contenders:

Bruce Hall, 5-11, 205, 25
On the Bills’ practice squad the past two seasons. Followed RB coach Eric Studesville to Denver.

Lance Ball, 5-9, 220, 25
Two years of practice squad. In Indy 2008 finale, rushed for 83 yards on 13 carries (6.4 average).

Kolby Smith, 5-11, 215, 25
Former Chief had success in 2007 but has battled injuries since.

Toney Baker, 5-10, 225, 24
Undrafted rookie from NC State who can plow and catch.

Brian Westbrook, 5-10, 203, 30
Currently a free agent. NFL’s best two-way back in 2006-07, but plagued by injuries since and hasn’t been the same.

TONEY BAKER!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The guy is awesome, I think we should give him a chance!

Westbrook would be fine too, but his concussion issues really bothers me.

Sign Ladell Betts or trade for Marshawn Lynch.

Otherwise, wait until teams start to trim rosters and hope that a player that matches our system becomes available.

Broncos not sure yet about the severity of Moreno hammy but they don't it's season threatening.

There is a reason Broncos traded JJ, I think we ought to take a wait and see approach to what that reason was.

With the Injury to Moreno I believe we are going to get to know that reason sooner than we would have otherwise...

I think the stables are set, especially with Moreno coming back sooner than expected. YES

Westbrook is a good player, but really injury prone too... And you're right... not the same he was now...

Anyway... What I know is that injuries are part of football and we'll have to deal with them... Give some guys their chance... See what we can do on the trade market but don't make silly moves...
Moreno is not officially out right now... Don't need to panic...

<joke on>
And after all... We still have Tebow :D
<joke off>
(OK... i'll punish myself for that one... sorry... :laugh: )...

Where's Hillis when we need him? Oh that's right. We traded him for a QB when we already have a decent starter, then drafted one.
