I think the actual value of the deal is 12.155 and it could max out at 15.5. :elefant:

Great news! The FO didn't do too bad at all getting everyone signed... not quite as quick as I wanted, but no holdouts is a very very good thing.

With training camp just a day away, it’s a full house in Dove Valley. Demaryius Thomas agreed to terms with the team Saturday, joining the eight other 2010 draft picks who have already signed with the club.

Thomas, a 6-foot-3, 224-pound receiver averaged more than 25 yards per catch last season and ranked second in the ACC in receiving yards per game, began practicing a little later than the rest of the team’s rookies during OTAs due to a foot injury. But when he found the field, his work ethic impressed his coaches.

“I think that everyone has seen this guy make tremendous catches, and then there’s been some other ones that he’s dropped,” Head Coach Josh McDaniels said earlier this offseason. “I think that comes with playing and knocking off some of the rust.”

“He hasn’t made the same error a lot,” he continued. “In terms of trying to get better at the things that he has struggled with or made an error with — he has really worked hard to try to fix those. He’s had a great attitude and approach.”

Thomas said he feels he improved “a lot” throughout OTAs, and he’s excited to put the pads on during training camp.

As a senior at Georgia Tech, Thomas was a third-team All-American selection by the Associated Press in 2009, a semi-finalist for the Biletnikoff Award — given to the top receiver in the collegiate ranks — and first-team All-Atlantic Coast Conference.

In a run-dominated Georgia Tech offense, Thomas amassed 1,154 receiving yards and eight touchdowns as a senior, bringing his career totals to 120 receptions, 2,339 yards and 14 touchdowns with the Yellow Jackets.

To put his production in perspective, Georgia Tech led the ACC in 2009 by averaging more than 295 rushing yards per game. The Yellow Jackets ranked last in the ACC in passing offense, yet Thomas found a way to excel. His 82.4 yards receiving per game last season came when his team averaged just 126.7 yards through the air per game.

Thomas said he believes he can transfer that production to the NFL, especially in Denver.

“I think that I’ll fit well,” he said when he was drafted. “I’m a playmaker.”

Demaryius Thomas, the Broncos final unsigned draft pick, has agreed to a five-year deal with the Broncos worth $12.155 million, with $9.35 million guaranteed. According to a league source, the max value of Thomas’ contract is $15.5 million with escalators.

Thomas, who has been in Denver all week, is heading to Dove Valley to sign his contract Saturday afternoon.

The Broncos and Thomas agreed to the deal in plenty of time for Thomas to complete his physical and conditioning test in advance of the first full-squad training camp practice, which starts at 8:45 a.m. Sunday. Thomas missed three days of meetings and four one-hour practices during the rookies-only portion of camp from Wednesday through Friday.

I don't know Nev, Moss came in having played in a pro style offense in college. Thomas was in option style offense so he's probably not as polished as Moss was when he came in.

True... we'd better give him 3-4 games to get up to speed.

Thank goodness that's just the preseason!

My comment was part wishfull and part sarcastic. "wishcastic"

but in response to you I never understood how one could "write off" a season.. not the notion of it but the use of the term.. you can write of taxes of course, but how does a season apply?

Demaryius Thomas agrees to deal with Broncos

The Broncos first-round pick that will have the greatest impact on the team in 2010 has agreed to his rookie contract.

Demaryius Thomas is heading over to Dove Valley to sign his contract. He agreed to five-year deal worth $12.155 million. He can earn roughly $15.5 million in max value and $9.35 guaranteed, according to Lindsay Jones of the Denver Post. (Tim Tebow, taken three picks later, got a $11.25 base contract with $8.7 million guaranteed and far higher escalators.)

The Broncos rookies have practiced this week, but Thomas signed before the first veteran practice of the day. The team had their conditioning test on Saturday.

The Georgia Tech product could take a while to learn pro concepts after playing in the wacky Yellow Jacket offense. Thomas also didn't practice much in the offseason because of a foot injury, but he's healthy now.

Thomas, Eddie Royal, and Jabar Gaffney figure to be the top three Broncos wideouts this year in no particular order.

UPDATE: The Broncos confirmed the news.

Great news! The FO didn't do too bad at all getting everyone signed... not quite as quick as I wanted, but no holdouts is a very very good thing.

no fuss, no muss. . . this was pretty much as good as it gets. . .

after all the super diva drama starting essentially right off the bat and finally culminating with the marshall trade, our FO has handled their business pretty damn well IMO. . . they got acceptable value for marshall, got some interesting pieces and filled some holes in the draft, hopefully picked up adequate competition for the third RB spot on the cheap, signed kuper and dumervil to extensions (WIN!), have at least stemmed the bleeding at ILB with a couple adequate journeymen, and now have the entire draft class in on time for the official start of camp with an absolute minimum of acrimony on either side. . .

seeing them more or less quietly and professionally handling things is a very welcome change from the way the mcdaniels/xanders regime started off-- it looks to me like those guys may have matured a bit as a front office duo this offseason. . . hopefully, dealing with all that crap smoothed off some of the more glaring rough edges. . . inexperience is understandable, if not expected or accepted, in a mutual first year in the top spot-- and they obviously did accomplish some things. . .

but the NFL is most certainly a league of the quick and the dead, and with so many millions of dollars on the line, you typically don't get much grace period. . .

looking at the composition of this team, it's apparent that getting some of our first and second year players up to speed quickly is going to be crucial to the success of this regime. . . having everybody ready to go on time is the first small step towards making that happen. . .

I agree with that 100% dogfish.
The learning curve seems to be gone (or much much smaller) this year. I even think McD has handled the media better this offseason. (even though he's still pretty goofy in front of cameras)
Good communication can go a looooong way in the NFL.

ENGLEWOOD, Colo. -- The Denver Broncos will kick off training camp Sunday without any holdouts.

First-round draft pick Demaryius "Bay-Bay" Thomas agreed to a five-year deal with more than $9 million in guarantees on Saturday, just in time to take his conditioning test so he can suit up when the full squad works out for the first time Sunday morning.

Thomas, a big wide receiver from Georgia Tech, was the first player taken by the Broncos in the NFL draft although he's been overshadowed by their other first-rounder, Florida quarterback Tim Tebow, who was selected 25th overall, three spots behind Thomas.

Thomas missed the three days of workouts for rookies and players coming off injuries this week while his agent, Todd France, and general manager Brian Xanders put the finishing touches on a deal that could be worth more than $15 million if he becomes a major contributor in coach Josh McDaniels' offense.

The Broncos needed big, athletic wide receivers after trading two-time Pro Bowler Brandon Marshall to the Miami Dolphins just before the draft and they got two in Thomas (6-foot-3, 224 pounds) and third-rounder Eric Decker (6-3, 218) from the University of Minnesota.

Despite playing in Paul Johnson's triple-option offense at Georgia Tech, a system that's considered ill-suited for the NFL, Thomas was selected ahead of the more polished Dez Bryant, who went to Dallas at No. 24.

In the former Yellow Jackets' deep threat, McDaniels trusts he's found Marshall's lookalike but not act-alike.

Despite three straight 100-catch seasons, Marshall's antics on and off the field made him a chronic headache for the organization. His four seasons in Denver were filled with drama and distraction along with run-ins with the front office and law enforcement.

A year ago, McDaniels' first training camp was dogged by Marshall's insubordination and holdouts by running back Knowshon Moreno and linebacker Robert Ayers, last year's pair of first-round picks.

Neither Moreno nor Ayers ever caught up for the time they missed. Moreno injured a knee in the first preseason game after ending a nine-day holdout and never hit his stride, failing to record a single 100-yard rushing game while Ayers is still in search of his first sack in the NFL.

Much more is expected out of those two this year, and the Broncos are hopeful this year's draft class has much more of an immediate impact, too.

McDaniels and starting quarterback Kyle Orton have both talked about adding more of a downfield passing attack and Thomas and Decker figure to help now that they've recovered from foot surgeries that might have scared off other teams in the draft.

Decker tore a ligament in his left foot in a game against Ohio State in October and Thomas broke his left foot doing drills just before the NFL combine. Both have fully recovered.

The new cba will have a rookie pay scale in it that limits the money these guys make and the signing bonuses and most of that money will go to vets and retirees. Not all of it as the owners are entitled for a return on investment.

They deserve more than just the glory of owning a TEAM.
